This weekend TRI will be hosting a new event. Very similar to Nation War, but slightly different, we will start calling this event "Team War".
It will be held on Sunday, October 25 at 20:30:00 in-game time. This can be checked by doing the "/time" command.
There will a red, blue, yellow, and grey team for the first one. People are free to join the given color of their character name or the grey team. So, a Serco pilot couldn't join the yellow team, or an Itani pilot couldn't join the red team.
The current prize is 10 million credits for the survivors of the winning team.
Taking from the rules of the previous Nation War, the other rules will be as follows:
-Only those who are on-time are allowed to participate.
-You may not start fighting until the host signals the start of the battle - this includes the 15 minute period prior to the planned starting time.
-Tridents may only be used if all teams participating has one.
-You may not return to the battle sector after you have left except to observe from a healthy distance in an EC-88 or EC-89.
-No running from the asteroid field.
-The last team standing wins
-Prize is only distributed to those on the winning team who survive
-Have fun!

There is no "I" in team.... it's why it's a Nation War damn it.
I 'kid... Glad to see someone picking this up, I'll be there.

I've got a fencing tournament going on that day, but if it gets done soon enough I'll try to be there and record.
I have drill for the National Guard on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but if I make it back in time on Sunday. I'll be there
There is an I in TEAM, it's hidden in the A :D
I don't understand?

I never liked this rule in NW because it discourages noobs, they only ones who actually need the credits.

Dang it DJ I was trolling idd.
And good point Harpo!

That's a great point Harpo, never thought if it that way. Darth, maybe give the dying members of the winning team a 50% prize orbsomerhing like that.
The problem with that is where are they homed? And then they have to come back afterward, which can be a problem if they come back in the wrong ship (as newbs tend to do, not knowing any better).
No problem -- if they don't return within 1 minute of the ending of NW they get no dinero.

I VEHEMENTLY DISAGREE with you harpo. If you throw money at noobs for simply being on the winning team, they will be attracted to the event en masse like flies to a chunk of rotten meat. They will NOT actually play the event as intended, and simply go afk or do other annoying things. Then when the event is over, they will rake in millions and leave without even saying a word.
The greedy money grabbing noobs will completely ruin the event for everyone else. No, the original rule is best left in place to only attract the ones who actually want to play the event as intended.

What's the problem? One team wins, the survivors get the prize, then they do with the money as they wish. They could split the prize between all participants or blow it on holodisks and spices.
As for noobs abusing the event, veterans are likely to abuse it just as well with multiple accounts (/me looks at Westie) especially during special events where the prize pool is 100mil or more.

Exactly Surbius...
What's to stop me from signing on to 4 accounts and putting each character on a different team and letting three die intentionally. I would be guaranteed some of the prize money.
This is not how I want to run the event.
And i really think that newbs will still love the event because the only really big player battle.
On a side not: anyone bringing tridents?
I'll sacrifice mine for the grey team...

Turns out I'm not going to be missing from this nation war. In my way to drill I hit a dumbass deer and my car is out if commission for a while. So I should be there
You guys are all worried about problems that don't exist yet. Lets work on problems that actually exist. I'll just relate two anecdotes from my personal experience with NW.
1) Trying one day to get newer players to participate and was told "I'm not good enough to survive and get credits even if we win, why should I bother, it just costs me a good ship."
2) Trying to get the prize redistributed one time to include the new players after my team won, vet telling me "I'm not sharing with the noobs that died because the rules specifically say they are supposed to get nothing".
Regarding noobs that will sign up just to get prize money and not actually participate, their team members can protest their inclusion, or choose to accept it.

If there is one thing a combat-minded newb should witness it's a nation war. Anyone interested in pvp in VO should recognize this. It's a very good idea for the host of nation war to figure out ways to include the newb population. But, at the end of the day, the host decides the rules.

I VEHEMENTLY DISAGREE with you harpo.
You clearly don't play the game anymore, failure. Most vets would prefer a bunch of newbs show up to die and collect cash than the alternative. Nation War is about lots of people exploding via PvP, not about the prize money.
