Annoying Login Bug
Sometimes when I log in, it is really, annoyingly, broken. I click login and it refuses to say "Loading Objects". I let it sit once for half an hour and "Loading Objects" had yet to appear. I have to hit cancel and retry, sometimes as much as 20 times, before it works. Why is this happening?
For me, it never connects, I just hold c (hotkey for connect) and press cancel many times (normally about 25) before the word "connected" comes up.
I have this problem at home and figured it was related to my NAT setup (although, now that I think about it, I don't recall having the problem with previous Vendetta versions). At work I don't have the problem.
Then again, I'm running an older version of Linux at home too (RH7.2), so I'm never surprised when it doesn't work as well as my work machine.

That's a good point. I'm behind a router with NAT here. Maybe that's the problem... But no, because I do not have this problem on Windows, only on Linux. Maybe Windows compensates for the NAT somehow? Or maybe it's just plain old broken. /me looks at the devs expectantly.
feel the superiority of windows! :P
no, ph33l the superiority of MY imac. I never have the problem. <sticks out tongue> Nyah.
Well, Blaster and me both have that problem... I think it's because the devs put some kind of fanciness into Windows which Linux will get in 3.2.6. I hope so, 'cause this is annoying.
re d/l your textures?
What do textures have to do with logging in?
Windows is Spiffier than Macs!!!!
Ph33l it up bab-ee!

Weird thing is, it works on the first try 33% of the time, at about the 5th time the other 50%, and 17% having to press cancel while holding c 50 times.
i run OSX and i have the same problem. I usually just have to cancel a few times though.
the "Loading Objects" is loading stuff in the media.rlb, well some of it is.
It's a network issue. The code is all the same in Windows, OS X, and Linux, although the dispatching of received packets works differently in Windows. I'll take a look at this. It happens to me too.
I've just installed 3 Redhat 9 machines (diff. configs) all of them doing it =)
We only have to cancel once and reconnect, and it's only if we haven't been logged on recently...

I suffer from this too, sometimes i get in first time, others it takes a lot of cancels. Yes, it's frustraiting, but i get there in the end :)
