Capitol System protection should only home capitol

The Capitol protection system should only apply to the home nation capitol sector(s)

i.e. Itani should be able to shoot Itani in Dau or serco shoot serco and UIT should be able to shoot UIT in itan or Sol II

Player safety is going a little too far.

The OP covers it. We don't need to provide additional context.

In the beginning we had FF protection everywhere in VO so the only way to kill same nation players was to become home nation KOS.
At some point FF protection was removed everywhere but in nation capitol systems, I presume the reason for leaving FF protection there was to protect newbies since this was all happening before faction redux.
After faction redux was implemented and other protective measures were introduced too (3 kill 24h tkos, inability to dock to subfactions in UIT capitol systems, etc.) I think Capitol systems FF protection kinda became redundant.
My guess is Raging John kept it so the newbies would not shoot each other at low levels and rage quit when killed early in the game.

Excluding other nations from this rule should not be a problem so... +1

Noobs shooting each other would prepare them for the reality that VO is a combat game, all the pandering and babysitting only hurts noobs in the long run.

You haven't given it much thought, did you blacky?

What would stop anyone from creating a trial account, jumping out of training sector, killing a few newbies, deleting char and starting new one over and over every damn day,
Not really a smart move that will help new players retention.

That's a non-issue bojan, clearly you don't have a problem with people abusing f2p mechanics (eyv)

We are discussing a suggestion here Blacky and I think Raging John is more then aware of potential issues of removing FF protection for the home nation capitol systems and will probably bring up the same concern I expressed in my previous post.
However, If you have issues with mobile/f2p game mechanics, feel free to send a support ticket regarding your f2p abuse allegations.

If you just want to vent out your frustrations about being banned for cheating and account fraud, please use RP forum.

I have made my position clear to the devs on the easy abuse of f2p mostly done by players like yourself and eyv.

I'm not banned and I have never committed account fraud, great attempt at slander sourpuss. I do enjoy you ninnys swearing I have an aimbot for VO though, hope it makes exploding so much less painful.

Anyone can make a f2p account and get a greyhound/svg/x-1/raptor in a few hours let alone 14 days and slaughter noobs already in any sector under the verse, the suggestion at hand does nothing but expose players to player on player combat with others of similar skill level.

There's a reason why the only people who excel in combat are those handpicked by groups of highly trained pilots that end up getting spoonfed tips and tricks and grinded until perfection. Artificial safety.

This allows anyone new to VO to start space combat at an equal playing field, an opportunity to experience the only real content this game has without a 97% rage100+uninstall which is the entire reason no one worth a damn sticks around for long periods of subscription cycles which in turn slows reinvestment and development to a standstill with noobs like hoban and yourself crying in support tickets about anything under the sun on top of the noobs begging the devs for mercy from any player that can point and shoot.

Clearly the one not thinking is you, supports why you don't login unless Niki or Misty is also logged in. Shoulda sparred more before adopting that always run tactic, it shows when you face anyone with weapons not used by a X-1 like a gat or mpb.

Thankfully your bad habit rubs off on anyone you assist, even hoban emulates said tactic of running full turbo to avoid death, similar to YT-1300 and how Nith adopted said stratagem.

You've already supported this suggestion, so I don't see why you decided to open your mouth once you saw me posting.

Fascinating the word frustration is when in terms of self reflection(look in a mirror)

The OP does not go far enough.

We need as few magic protection as possible. The "no chance to damage each other"-protection should only go as far as station sectors in the primary capitol systems (Dau/Itan/Sol). And then it should really extend to all three nations. So if I'm Itani and I fire the guns at some poor new guy in Dau L-10, he shouldn't get damaged.

But if I want destroy some player in a random unmonitored in Dau/Itan/Sol sector, I should be able to. There is no reason to extend the magic to there. So say I happen to stumble upon a squad of people shooting a Hive Queen in Dau P2, I should be able to damage and destroy them. WHERE would that protection come from? It being in station sectors would be strange enough, but there I can atleast see the point...

@Sieger

I agree 100% with the second paragraph. Unmonitored should be exactly that.

The point of the suggestion is that UIT should not care if Itani shoot Itani or Serco shoot Serco in their capitol system.

Implementing your first paragraph would negate the need for SF & Turrrets in station sectors and I can see the newbs sitting in stations only increasing. I understand UIT not being able to damage UIT prevents abuse and agree with that but if say some newb fly all the way from Itan to Dau without dying he should not be protected from other Itani shooting him in Dau. If they want to level in Dau they should start a UIT character.

@bojan & blaqk

Come on, take it to RP. Possibly getting suggestions locked is not cool.

"Implementing your first paragraph would negate the need for SF & Turrrets in station sectors"

Actually, that need would remain. Friendly fire protection only applies when both parties are in good standing, and Sieger's post didn't say anything about changing that part. So the SF and turrets would still be needed to deal with Hated and KOS people like me.

I am not in support of Sieger's suggestion, though. Extending it to all factions is the opposite of what I think should happen. OP FTW.

Spreading lies about hacking and defrauding VO isn't RP.

My posts are extremely relevant to the suggestions at hand, the core of the issue is how the game and community reacts to a fresh registration in relation to rules of engagement.

No where should be safe outside of training sectors, we already can't lay mines in NFZ among other magical protections.

Pilots are products of their environment, if we want to have this community grow without things like steam and dedicated marketing there has to be a way to introduce them to combat with other players.

At this point the amount of pilots who are growing in skill at steady pace is under a faux monopoly controlled by the main combat guilds.

I understand many think this is some kind of god damn farce to expand hunting grounds but the motivation is much more sincere.

The same people who complain that there's no one to play with or that new players are not worth the effort are the same people who attack the community here on the forums. They have nothing to contribute but grief.

Overregulation has always been the swan song of any successful idea, it's a big circle and many issues we face that hold back true progress are stemming from this lack of fresh blood.

Let's be honest with ourselves, conflict and real vendettas between players is what makes this game fun and keeps us subscribed and motivated to improve ourselves in aspects of the game that have nothing to do with combat.

Inc has already said that there are changes coming to improve newb safety, your pipe dream of free for all ended years ago and will not come back. Feel free to keep typing it till your fingers turn blue, he's not going to change it back.

We are asking for modification of where and for whom capitol system protection is active.

VO will suffer as a result, all that will happen is the dozen or so players who maintain the VO community will leave and the wisdom and existing community resources will slowly fade away(wiki, vpour, ircrelay, lua scripters, video media creators, established guilds, PCC etc)

Nothing lasts forever I suppose, not that gives us a reason to jump off a cliff trying to escape what makes this game fun.

Oh and Incarnate has said quite the opposite in regards to nationspace and RoE and even the potential for a true 4th nation option(unaligned)
