wmv works if you've got a mac,
head to www.microsoft.com/mac
or the old www.mactopia.com
and download it, it worked for me!

again, that movie was great!

hmmm. I think i can convert it. If you want i could try uploading it again as a quicktime file if that would be easier for you guys.

well it's a good movie, there are lots of really nice shots in it, but it really drags in a lot of points. I think that it could have easily been trimmed to 4 minutes or less and still kept its impact. The Trojan War thing was a good idea, but stretched for far too long. The movie picks up as the Trojan War bit ends, with some combat, but then dies off in the middle, and picks up again with the cap ships. The whole middle section might be deleted, and a lot of the Trojan War stuff might be condensed and the movie would still keep its impact, I think.

the problem with that is i would have to trim the music which is incredibly hard to do and still have it sound right. The way I made it was to pick a song and then find the shots that fit with it. My main goal was really to have it timed up with the music well enough. Trimming it to 4 minutes means cutting out 3 minutes of the music which just throws the whole flow off. Also, in reference to my above post, apparently I lied, i cant convert it. So hopefully what everman mentioned will work well enough.

QT file would be nice... I refuse to install wmp on this machine...

Great job Ghost! Why are you letting your subscription lapse?

Mac users, Windows Media Player 9 for the Mac works just fine for playing this.

I'm with roguelazer on this. You won't be seeing me running WMP. MPEGs are ideal (for compatibility). QT files are acceptable.

Im not quite sure how to go about converting it, if anyone can give me a quick rundown of what to do, then i'll convert it to QT and upload it to LeberMac again.

I liked it because it was different. More cinematic and less music video. Let's hope it inspires others.

i thought it was interesting but slow

imo combat should be action packed!

Would you please let the less techically minded of us ( & me) know how you go about making a movie like this?
I thought you did a very impressive job, first rate!

Who me: You'll find that watching most 1 on 1 fights from a 3rd person angle is not always so action packed :)

Skystrider: I downloaded FRAPS to record the footage. To edit the clips together, for lack of a better program I used windows movie maker. I lost my copy of Adobe Premiere a while ago, but normally I would reccomend that for video editing. However, Windows Movie Maker is free and Adobe Premiere costs a chunk of change.

Again, if anyone wants to instruct me how to convert a file from WMV to Quicktime, i'll gladly do it and upload it again so everyone can see it.

I do not know about you, who?me?, but watching my red serco vult fight with the centurion left me at the edge of my seat.

Thank you, Ghost, for having me in your movie! I really enjoyed it.

Nice job Ghost. I agree with Leber, I loved the side view of the cap-ship.

You're quitting with your subscription!? But only temporary, right? RIGHT!?

mencoder can do it.
Jun 10, 2005 Ghost link
Roguelazer: Downloaded mencoder, but cant seem to open it, does it run on windows?

Smittens: Not sure when I'll be back. Maybe one month, maybe six. I don't know at this point. I'm not going to state my reasons for leaving on the forums because they are my own and I'm afraid by stating my misgivings it may have a negative effect on the community. There's no need for me to complain, I'm just taking a break. There's been enough flames already and I'm not going to start another. Either way, I will continue to monitor the forums.

i liked it alot... but with WMV i had to keep starting it over.... plz do quick time next time.

nice job man, really great.

I mostly agree with Roguelazer, although I have a higher opinion of MPEG, especially
MPEG4. I'm using a Mac, I have QuickTime 7, Real, VLC and Windows Media 9. I
really don't know why I have WMP, because I do not recall downloading it. Since I
will not willingly use anything Microsoft, I have dumped it, but after trying again to
get the movie. I still get a blank, white screen. Sigh.....

Just downloaded demo of Snapz ProX2.02 from www.ambrosiasw.com.
It looks like it is the business.
Runs in the background and captures whatever's on screen with a three key combo (command-shift-3).

Nice movie. Now for my criticisms:

1) The Illiad stuff at the beginning is nice, but something from the backstory would be rather more appropriate. That Illiad stuff would work well for a Battlestar Galactica trailer, though. :P

2) Am I the only person who thinks that vendetta looks infinitely sexier with space junk OFF?

3) WMV EVIL!!!!!!!
