Too bad the devs can't make current players sign an NDA since we're already in production... that's what we really need at this point.

So... don't feel bad Person, on the bright side there's a lot of new players in game atm. Maybe us vets can make a concerted effort to mentor them.

Otherwise, it's probably best to keep the game quiet for now until we have A) a better introduction and B) a better end game. I have no idea what sort of progress the Devs are making but I suspect it won't truly be ready for the masses at least until December. There's still so much they are working on!

NDAs can become problematic in this situation due to the fact that minors play this game.

It'd be nice (really really nice) to have some updated mentoring features before all the new players start pouring in.

How about new screenshots? That, at least, would be an easy update.

Having lots of new folks can be a good thing: they get to interact and be a part of the upgrading, getting to see the new stuff as it happens, and I think that is the second-best thing about this game.

The most powerful way to keep a player for life is to implement their suggestion. They then have a sense of "ownership" of the game, they can say 'Hey, I suggested that!" Three years down the line when VO has surpassed WoW in membership.

Problem is, most of the suggestions made by the n00bs have already been suggested like 2 years ago.

Oh well. Bring on the new players! I'll hang out in Itan and corrall 'em. LeberMac's School of Drinking! Go forth my drunken minions! Hahahahahahaaaaa!

I signed up 6/21/2006, so I'm not sure where I fit in to the release dates (e.g. pre-release/post-release), but I found the tutorial and the user community to be very helpful and was quickly hooked on the game (compared to the likes of World of Warcash).

I've found the atmosphere of the game, and the interaction of my fellow players, to be rather refreshing after all of the BS of the more commercial MMPORPGs.

So, to hopefully quell any worry about newbie reactions, at least from my point of view, I think the first impressions are pretty dang good.

Thanks for the positive reaction Fovis. It's always nice to see someone who isn't totally lost by the current text-tutorial, :D

Hope to see you around,

That's probably because he's like one of the types of people who stay with VO, notice how he refences WOW.

Welcome to VO

I came here from a tiny mention in the comments on a slashdot article, some time ago.

Never played a MMORPG before this one.

i also advertised vendetta every chance i got, even got it to the frontpage of some high traffic websites (where i created accounts especially for this).
I promisse i won't do it again.
But i should also say that i am off vendetta now and i will stay off vendetta until i see the active users number climb arround/above 200. I guess i am longing to play it again so i am unconsciously trying to get it there :)
