Player Guild Pruning

I'm going to be pruning the player guilds this week. All guilds with too few members/council members will be disbanded unless there's an important reason for not disbanding it.
So, get out there and recruit or email me to fix your guild if you don't have enough council members.

<sarcasm>please leave border patrol.... we need them, we need them so badly....</sarcasm>

but honestly, thank you for doing this. but what constitutes "too few"?
Sep 26, 2006 raybondo link
too few means not enough players to be able to grow the guild.
Less than 5 council members, or no lieutenants or commander.
Also, I will be looking at whether anyone on the guild as been online in the past x months (probably 6-12).

If we're going to do this, let's do it objectively and by the same standards for all. Moldy's needs to be axed. That's not a Guild, it's a half-assed group.

I agree with Lecter (omg!)

CDC is actually a decent shipping guild and I myslef made a cool 9 million from it and thanks again Erik C. I say keep it there.

Why not prune based solely on activity of the members? If a guild is used, then it is still used. If it is not, then it is not. You could make it an automated thing done on a yearly basis, to remove all guilds that have not been used in the last 12 months.

You could do the same to player characters too, but perhaps you want to keep those that have obtained a certain minimum level, so to stay a character has to have been used in the last 12 months and must have total license levels in excess of 20. This would keep your database size down somewhat. If you add this early and document it people will not complain about it being added later, when there are more people to complain. ;-)

Hey moldymonk! Go ahead and give me the rest of the CDC bank before you're popped. That 38 million misses it's friends!

Antz, I cannot agree with you.
Removal of chars an a such basis like you suggested is kinda unacceptable.
What'd happen to all those funny alts? :P

ufoman: Well, if they are not being used... I have an alt which I logged in with only 3 times, and that has a total level of 32, so levelling to 20 OR using a character once a year should not be a problem for most. I bet the vast majority of the VO characters (80% or close to) are below total level of 10, and have been used once ago by people with trial accounts or have been otherwise inactive for at least a year. It is very unlikely that any of those will ever be used again, and so see little sense in keeping them, they just clog up the player database... My view on this is not too strong though, if people feel they should be kept I really don't mind and have no problems with it.

Umm.... I have only one character, and my total levels are only 15. I will be back at some point, and it would suck to have my character deleted and find when I come back that some newbie took my character name....

If CDC wants to stay, then they need more players.

This was to be a quick prune of old guilds not in use anymore. There will be a more in-depth prune at some later time.

IMO, it's not a user issue...

it's a guild activity issue.

if there was a "guilds only" mission implimented in the game, the guild database could be auto-pruned by eliminating less/non active guilds.

the user activity can be faked. (yes i'm looking at you "anti-personal guise #'s 1-7")

and activity is registered upon character selection.

if something that is added/modified ingame to automatically disband a guild after 10 inactive days (consecutive) and a minimum of 5 member login (at once) within those days, then this can never happen again. and then we dont have to see DPR guilds again.

boredom guilds are useless, and newb-guilds are well newbs. my last point is that i decree that there should be a minimum leveling that a character should have to hit before being able to create a guild ingame.

this should stop the "i have three friends and we can all run 3 instances of VO...." , "let's make a guild of 0/0/0/0/1 characters!"

yes, i encourage newbs to have a guild, but maybe spend some time and money into the game/MMO, maybe some time in another guild to get the reputation... then go out on their own.

Poor Christiansons can't have a family business now... Hmm, if you are to prune CDC, you should add the support of wedding to game
