Kind of a necro on this, but...

I'm new to the game as well. I used up almost all of my 8 hours of trial and have about that much played on my account. I have played all sorts of online games from the old UO, EQ, Diablo, Dragon Realms, Warcraft, WoW and FPSs like BF, BF2, CoD and many others. With the exception of Dragon Realms, this is the most helpful group of people around. DR mainly because PvP is non existent so helping out noobs is almost a profession. Anyone who thinks asking a question in chan 100 is tough, ask one in city chat on WoW. They will be talking about the noob that asked a "dumb" question for weeks.

I have seen some "look at the noob" answers, but you could tell without much thought that it was in fun. Usually that person would also chime in with some real help. An answer of "that's in the tutorial" is not really a bad answer. You should read that anyway. Or do you really want someone to play the game for you instead of learning what you can on your own?

I haven't left faction space yet, but I like the fact that I can PvE an train with little or no worry, but know that if I want PvP, all I need do is fly into grey space and get all I want.

So far, I'm liking it.

In regards to the 3rd person view, never use it. Ever.

Its bad, and it doesn't work as a viable method of playing.

Having played the game for a while, I want to give my newbie memories and two cents.

When I came in, it was a joke to download this. I had no idea it would run so well on my (then) complete crap computer. The Border Skirmish was completely unplayable for me, which sucked because that is what space is about for me. Giant battles. Now moving back, yes. Pvp is all there really is, and I must admit that getting to Combat level 3 wasn't easy, but leveling up my alt showed me just how much I had learned about combat.

Once I got my new gaming rig built and working, I played this for a bit, moved on, went to Eve, got bored, and came back. This is still better than Eve. My classmates at school got so angry at me for talking about this game nonstop. I couldn't help it. The graphics became breathtakingly beautiful on the highest settings, and I occasionally just go sightseeing.

When I first saw SWG's twitch based combat system, I fell in love at first sight. At that point, I didn't have a PC, and I didn't plan on getting one. I really wanted to play. When I found this, surfing apple.com's game list, I jumped out of my seat in excitement. The twitch combat system was a miracle for me. Even moreso when I hooked up my joystick with no issues.

The player count averages for when I was playing doubled after the mmorpg.com promo, and I was happy to be back just in time. Even when the game was smaller, it was still great fun just talking to the community. These are good, intelligent, elitist (in a good way. No 1337speekers allowed!) nice people. Its half the reason I joined.

This game is the only MMO I REALLY hated to leave. I just knew everyone so well. The only reason I DID lieave was that I knew that I would be back. I was. This game is truly unlike any other MMO I have ever seen.
