I'd rather not use Google Play Games. I'm not signed into it and keep clicking "not now" because Nope isn't an option. Has anyone found a way to stop it? It's only one extra click but it's annoying.

(This is my first thread so I'd like to clarify that this game kicks ass and y'all should be proud.)

This isn't really a Suggestion, it's a general question about Android, made to the larger audience of the game.

We don't control how Google Play Games works. The popup is from them, not us. Or as their documentation states for V2 of the Play Games API: "When your game launches, it will always attempt to sign in the user."

What I would try is running the Google Play Games app directly, then going to the "three dots" and choosing Settings, and then disable "Automatically sign in to supported games" by sliding the switch to the left.

But, this is a bit variable based on device types, manufacturers, and Android / Google Play versions and so on.

In my case (T-Mobile R-something tablet) that option doesn't exist. It's not surprising, I'm sure it would work better if I just turned all that on. Seems a lot of Android games have grumps like me complaining about it.

It's not really that intrusive (and I started playing on PC/laptop more anyhow) and thanks for looking.

It might be possible for us to make a specialized Option of our own, that can be set by a player to avoid the Play Games SDK being initialized. It wouldn't be in the Play Games pop-up, it would be buried somewhere in our own Options settings.

But, I can't promise anything: If it is possible, it may have other ramifications I haven't foreseen, or Google may get fickle and weird with their platform requirements (as they frequently are), etc.

That's pretty obnoxious that they don't have consistent settings for configuring this kind of thing, across all devices.

If I am the only one annoyed enough to make a forum post about it, I'm not sure it is worth trying to fight Google on this. I broke down and made a "Play Games" account to attach to the burner google account I made for the tablet just to see if it enabled more granular options. (I tried to turn it all back off, but who knows...)

So don't fret about changing it just for me. If you do it for fun or 500 people pile on here, I am happy to help test.
