Integrated graphics on WQXGA (2520x1600).

Hello.

How does ryzen 8700g work running VO on QHD ?
Will there any low FPS rate ?
I'm purchasing a HW starting from a WQXGA display.
Is the iGPU enough or maybe i need a graphics card like 6700 xt ?
I suppose not and the ryzen 8000 Is enough for this game, but i ask for security.

It should be more than enough.

6700xt for vo is overkill, shit I ran WQXGA with an R9 280x at 144hz and the card was barely breaking a sweat.

I haven't been looking at benchmarks for the fancy shmangled APU/SOC's but considering vo runs just fine on shit everyone depreciated 8 years ago I don't think you'll have any issues whatsoever.

Only thing that could pop up would be issues with the graphics driver but afaik AMD drivers have pretty damn good support for "legacy" titles.

The game's renderer is not frozen in time. People sometimes make assumptions that "how it is now is how it will always be", and that's not necessarily true. We added a basic Vulkan implementation in 2018, and at this point we're due for a major renderer update, it's just been delayed by, well.. all sorts of nonsense.

An 8700g has a pretty decent iGPU, and it should be able to run VO, in some decent playable fashion, for a long time to come.

However, you should not necessarily expect that that will be able to handle "the best settings" of everything, down the road. The next generation update will probably bring some major changes.

Being an MMORPG, we do try to maintain compatibility with older hardware for as long as we reasonably can, but we do periodically significant raise the level of the highest-end settings. We haven't done that for some time, but it is likely to happen.

If you're building a desktop, there's probably merit to sticking with the iGPU for now, with the knowledge that you can add a discrete GPU later, if you want something that can push more advanced settings at a later point. The discrete GPU should be cheaper and better by then anyway.

Never said it's frozen in time, it was built around hardware that was a fraction of what you find in most consumer devices today, that and ray's a fuckin' wizard.

Pretty sure it's not too hard to generate scenes that even beefy modern hardware would have issues with; thing is you don't typically encounter that ingame.

1060's are very much at the lower end of the graphics card hierarchy these days and you can run vo in 4k at 144hz on those without fiddling with settings.

None of that is true. Again, we last did a renderer update in 2018. We were one of the first to work on raytracing, using the Titan V cards at the behest of NVIDIA, before the RTX boards ever shipped, and we sit on the Vulkan Advisory Panel, an invite-only group that also includes Epic, EA, Croteam, Roblox, etc.

People need to let go of this idea of "game age", it isn't conceptually relevant for titles that are technically sophisticated, like ours, with custom renderers, that are continually updated.

Except we've been literally telling you all that the universe is going to be redone, for some years.

You aren't in a position to be informed about what kind of hardware will be best to run VO in say, the next year or two. I'm trying to convey more useful advice to someone who was asking for that kind of information.

Yes, but.. who cares? If people want an informed response, they should read what I wrote, and ignore everything you've said.

Guess I'm full of shit nevermind anything I said!
