Guide, Jm, not Dev hehe.

-and I don't particularly enjoy you filling up the chat box with these ** stars! if you ever have the urge, do it on AIM, not Vendetta.
(pss... if anyone wants to stop Jm's spamming, join evoli in keeping Jm busy by attacking him constantly! -_~)

but seriously... can we take the complaint fest somewhere else? does anyone else remember this is a small dev company thats trying to get the game ready for production? They said they were working on expanding gameplay, THEN fixing bugs.. I think...

well if you all think about it, I am sure they have many of these things mostly completed or are working on them. But the major areas of concern are so interwoven with other areas that it takes awhile to make sure no major bugs are there. If they spend an extra week per item on an update it probably saves them 2 weeks of running around tracing bugs etc.

I have never really had a problem with the game play as I knew what I signed on for. The Community can get on my nerves some days, but I am sure that will also improve with time.

Things like missions and factions, better AI etc are all very very complicated things, so they probably want to make sure they do it right b4 they release it.

Clearly people arent reading the first part of my post. It's a rant. Dont take it as, "I expect all of these things taken care of, NOW" Mmkay? Sheesh.

Exactly Durgia. Such is the nature of product development. If you try to make every step in a process perfect, you will either never finish or fall well below potential.

I'm sorry alienb, but what is the purpose of you post then?

It's a rant. It, is a rant. Lets try that again. It's a rant.

Who the hell are you anyways?

Okay, thought on how to solve station mining/camping - Give the freaking station a turret that seeks those bastards out.

Give all the stations turret bots, you say?

/me recalls yesterday, at the Holy NT Temple of the Hole-y Roid:
me + Katarn + Sage and maybe some other mine layers stuffed the entire Temple with proxy mines, and blew the mines (and ourselves) up repeatedly. I was blasted into the roid walls a once (without losing health), and only got out of the roid walls after being blasted again.
It would be interesting to see the secret station in 10 have a turret bot. After yesterday, I realized how easy it would be to hide some mines in station 10 and blow the daylights out of traders; the passageway(s) into station 10 are narrow, and a mine planted in s10 would be hard to see and near impossible to demine. A demining bot would be good for station 10; I’m going to miss stuffing the Hole-y Roid full of mines though.

The prevalent problem is boredom, simple as that. Human impatience will over-ride innocent anticipation 99% of the time, and people will do whatever the hell they feel like to relieve boredom.

A quick lesson in humor: someone winning the lottery isnt funny. Someone walking into a lamp-post is. Its funny because its not happening to you. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 9 are examples of players doing what they think is "funny" or ego-boosting.

Yes we need people with the power to step in. But if its not done right, all it'll do is breed resentment and drive people away at an exponential rate. HA! HA! No.

The best response I can really make right now is that we are aware of these issues and have been aware of them for some time. In fact, most of these problems were predicted well before they actually surfaced in the Test (we knew they would happen). I've even responded to most of these problems (pretty long ago, by this point, since some of them have been around for a long time) and said how we'll be handling them. I would tell you to search the messageboard, but we don't have that feature yet, har har.

Yes, we do appreciate the feedback. Ranting is not particularly well received. I know the game can be frustrating. I've said it's boring and largely pointless at present. I'm glad people still have high hopes for the final game, I think we'll prove them right in due course. But, as far as use of development time goes, we're doing the best we can. It's easy to say "spend 5 hours making AI better" when you have no concept of the amount of work that's actually involved.

I'm walking a fine line with releasing information. I don't want to state too much about our production or schedule, because if we should fail to meet some deadline (or cut some feature), I don't want to disappoint or alienate people. Contrary to popular belief, I have not forgotten to post to In Progress, I'm just being careful about when I choose to do so and what I choose to say.

We have a great deal of cool stuff going on. I don't think you will find your patience has been in vain. But, if the current game is too frustrating, perhaps you should take a break? Changes will be along in good time, check them out when they take place.
