paedric, it's a sxw. Which is a document format used by openoffice.org. Which is a zip file which contains xml files, true. But the xml files are not for your reading pleasure...

Alrighty then, how is this file used? Is something supposed to open up?

*grumbles even more incoherently about militant Linux users*

There we go, GTS input, normal text and GTS mixed, GTS <-> English 'transcriber' (no grammatical interprentation) and cookify mode. Also added is a sxw with the keys for the faster 'direct input' mode, and I also added a Word version of the sxw. (you can open sxws with OpenOffice and Sun Office btw)

Transcribment isn't perfect and it doesn't work in Konqueror (haven't tested IE yet either...)

Ah well try it out, I'll work some more on it tommorow.

The GTS Alpha is funcional but the numerics and all but the "small" and "only" pictorgraphs are showing up as [][][][]. The phonetic button shows the numerics as [][][] but the alphas appear to be funcional.

Yeah, I just tried it out over here at school; it is as if those letters aren't in the font at all. I'll try and move the characters a bit in the font and try and see if that will fix it.

How is the .sxw file used on a Mac? I unstuffed it to get to the .xml files but where do they go?

When I try to type the pictographs, I get the corresponding letters instead.

You have the install OpenOffice to use it: http://www.openoffice.org/

If you want to directly type pictograms you have to type them and then click the 'direct' button. The other modes will see them as letters. (well they are susposed to do that)

[edit: hehe, I just forgot to include those in the fonts, they got deleted in some odd way.. ah well, I restored from the font in my font directory so you should reinstall the font and it should work]

Why not just make the pictograms the capital letters in the font? Then, all text programs could use both.
Sep 21, 2004 Sheean link
Huh? Then you couldn't use this font for normal text anymore, which is the entire point of this whole 'mixed' font.

Like this:

 !

(if you installed the font this will hopefully display properly)

How did you do that? I thought they had <font> disabled...
Sep 21, 2004 Sheean link
I didn't need to use <font> because the characters are in a range which is usually empty, your fontsever will look for a font that has those characters when your current character doesn't have it and will hopefully end up with the GTS font.

[the script is update now, with an updated font and more characters (the ones that aren't in the manual, but are in game)]

Sorry Sheean, all I see are rectangles.

[] [][][][][]!

Yeah not all font servers do that little trick (I think Windows is one of those not doing that). You could of course merge GTS into your favourite font yourself (using fontforge or something like that) or ask me to do that.

OK, Sheean... I think you have gone a little too far with this GTS takeover!!!
