Must i buy the final version in a shop, or will there be a download-version (without 30 days free).

Yes, there will be a downloadable free trial. The trial account will be upgradable to a full paying account by paying an immediate $9.99 for the first month (no 30 days free).

Are there any drawbacks in comparison to the retail version?

I'll bet you will miss out on:

What you get by preodering:

- An extra 30 days free (60 days totoal, a $20 value)
- Access to the beta
- Advanced access to the final game launch. Pre-Order customers will be able to start working on their characters after the "post-beta" character wipe, but before the retail launch, giving them a head start on everyone else.
- Exclusive in-game benefits
- Printed booklet version of the Chronicles of Exile (universe backstory)
- Vendetta Online poster, featuring the launch universe map and some other cool graphics.
- Snazzy Vendetta Online box
- Undying devotion of Guild Software.

So, European players who can't afford the extra $20 (which have nothing to do with Guild Software) are screwed.

I just wanted the snazy vendetta online box...

So what is the cost to download the game, and what will be the cost to buy the game at the store? Not counting all the extra stuff you get at the store.

how about finding european retailers?

there are no europena retailers.

incarnate said in an earlier post that the free trial download can be turned into the full game by signing up for the 9.99 monthly fee.

Lo FM,

what are
- "exclusive in-game benefits"
- what do you mean by advanced access to final game? can't i turn the downloadable trial version immediately after character wipe into a playable one?
- what do you mean by "access to the beta"? don't i have already access? do you want to exclude ppl that do not pre-order the package?

The 20$ saving is not really an argument for me. I would like it better to see guild software obtaining an extra 20 bucks instead of a retailer that wants the same amount of cash for pure shipping.

I was quoting the News, and some of the "drawbacks" wouldn't apply to you since you are a playtester. However, I did say "...you will miss out on:" which was obviously a mistake.

I don't know what the "exclusive in-game benefits" are.

SO in short, it looks like you'd miss out on the box, the backstory, and the poster.

Is there anyway we can pre-order the game directly from the company? I dont like messing with all of the online ordering and I dont live anywhere near a gamestop or ebgames or anything of that nature.

Alex, I think you qualify for the exclusive Cousins Of Developers deal, so don't worry about it. I mean, uh, I'll send a company representative over this Thanksgiving, or something.

I agree, the shipping to Europe is pretty outrageous.. perhaps someone could order as a proxy and ship some copies themselves? (in case someone really wants a box and poster)

Hey, I'm your distant cousin too.

Sounds fine ^_~

Well Stock up on lemonade cans before then.
We seem to go through them fairly quickly ;)

but, Uncle Andy.....I already pre-ordered!

One of the big reasons I want to pre-order is the "Exclusive in-game benefits"
