lol...nerf the pilots...hehe

Anyway, first of all, sorry about the Serco bash. But it rhymed so well!!!=p

Second, I don't appreciate the flames UncleDave. I can see how you might become defensive, seeing as though if the prom was nerfed you would most likely take a large hit to your 1502 duel rating. I wrote the poem to add a bit of humor to what I know is an waaaay overly debated topic that I feel is still important. I didn't mean for you to take any offense at my attempt at humor. I'm sorry if my poem insulted you. Maybe you should write your own..."Ode to the sucky tboyz007"...

Third, this is more of a fun thing than it is a plea at nerfing the prom. I've done my "*whine*NERF THE PROM*whine*" rounds, i admit it. I have figured out a way to fight the prom-don't fight it. (Or team-kill it, but then the pilot tends to run away...)

Finally, thanks to all you that liked it! It's amazing what 10 minutes of boredom after watching pilots get creamed by an AGT Prom can result in...

Ok... I read through pages one and two. Now for those of you who know me (Hi SF, UD, Devs, Rene, and the rest!) well, you know my experience here. For those of you who have NOT played in the alpha or the beta, well.. let me put it this way.. I played vendetta for almost 2 years I think it was until it was released.

Now, I REMEMBER when 3.0 (IE alpha version) came out and the valk and the prom and the maud were all released for the first time. Now for a VERY VERY VERY VERY long time, the valk retained the status as the "uber" ship. It retained this status all the way into release. I also remember the poor prom getting hit HARD with the nerf bat back in the early 3.0 days. And I mean HARD. To the point you hardly EVER saw a prom and if you did... unless it was a GOOD player such as Uncle Dave ... well.. it wasn't around long cause it either ran or was exploding.

Now the valk isn't so uber any more... (THANK GOD!) and finally the prom is showing some skills again... And for those of you who haven't played the prom back in the alpha and beta days have NO CLUE how bad it was. :( But please believe me it was bad. IMNSHO (granted not having actually played since release) the LAST ship that needs a nerf is the prom.

actually after the 50N thrust cut brought the SCP more into line with the rest of the proms, i 'd like to see a straight, 30N thrust cut across the board for ALL the prom variants.. I think an additional 30N of thrust lost (and a small amount of spin toruqe maybe) would balance them out nicely as a SHIP. some weapons still would need looked at, but the platform itself would be in good shape.

Maybe i'll post all my proposed ship mods tomorrow, but i'm off to bed right now.

Good idea spellcast.

Furball-I realize, though not being an alpha/beta player myself, that the Valk was the uber ship throughout those tests and even up until fairly recently, relatively long after the game was released. I also realize that the prom probably sucked really hard (I know it did even when I downloaded the game). Serco pilots-how did you feel about the dominating Valk and the scrap metal prom? Probably not too good. You might say, "But we worked toward a Valk anyway." Most of you did, that's good adapting, but let me point out that there is no itani station between deneb and the serco system. No station, no strike force. Makes it a bit easier to gain standing...

So, put yourselves in our Itani shoes. The Valk sucks, the prom is dominant. We aren't happy. I can see that the prom is already having little tweaks to it in order to make it a more reasonable ship, but ideally what I would like to see is an uber prom, as well as an uber Valk. Let's meet halfway- don't destroy the prom, but only nerf it to the point that the Valk can be improved. This 'point' is fairly arbitrary, but one can see what I'm getting at...

I deserve some sort of compensation for my time spent successfully flying the "scrap metal prom."
(just kidding...)

Don't make the Valkyrie uber just because the Prometheus is uber. Make the Valkyrie viable, and the Prometheus viable, instead of one sucking and the other owning like the trend has been. Surely there's some happy medium... I like the losing 30N thrust idea.

Well the prom handles a little (how much? I don't exactly know, and never will) too well for the amount of armor it has, and although it's a nice target, you don't actually need to dodge so much if the opponent is looking for a short fight. It'll have the firepower and armor. Small reductions in thrust (5 to 10N) might ease, if not completely "balance", the ship.
The valk is too big and doesn't have enough thrust compared to the special (IBG/Orion) centurions (to my knowledge). 5N boosts would be pretty big for the valks, since they are lighter, but they might actually receive "tweakings" later like the other ships.
Any ship loaded (6+) with CtC cargo should have a hard time running away. However, cargo affects mass and does not simply turn off the turbo ability like the flag. You can turbo, but you can't dodge, so I'm not sure which one is harder when you're really loaded (15+, try it in a maud).
And, totally off topic, the hornet could get some love ;)

mdaniel, calling someone a n00b because they cant beat a prom is silly. If they were nice and balanced there wouldnt be so many threads on them. I think the fact that it took 6 BL members in light ships to take down a pair of proms while still sustaining pretty heavy losses speaks for itself.

And yes, the hornet needs some loving.

For the amount of armour a prom has, it is still insanly quick.

For best Prom flying results, equip two Sunflares and your choice of AGT or Jackhammer. Fly repeatedly at target, unloading rockets when close enough* to ensure a hit. Target should~ now be dead.

* For best results, target must be closer than 30 meters

~ May need to be repeated up to 4 times to ensure a quick kill
