Deneb Run #31

Jan 27, 2006 moldyman link
TGFT and EnB will again be hosting The Deneb Run this weekend at 12:01 AM GMT Sunday. Please check /time if you are confused about GMT.

*** THIS IS A NEW TIME - 2 hours earlier to better allow European players to participate ***

*** New VO Client not-allowed due to battery exploit ***

All citizens are welcome to race, there is no entrance fee, and 4 Million credits in prizes are available. Some of it could be yours!

Once again, the rules are:

1) Racers must race from Odia M14 through Deneb heading clockwise back to Odia M14.
2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) Contestants must be within 100m of me before the start
4) No shooting before I start the race.
5) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
6) All weapons and ships allowed, except those listed in #10.
7) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (2 million credits)
8) Second person back gets 2nd place prize (1.2 million credits)
9) Third person back gets 3rd place prize (800k credits)
10) No Valkyries allowed.
11) Racers must use the standard VO client, not the new one in testing.
12) If there are at least 3 racers, and less than 3 racers complete The Deneb Run, the undistributed prize money will be awarded to those who killed the racers as follows:
- The most recent kill gets the highest unawarded prize
- The 2nd most recent kill gets the second highest unawarded prize
- etc.

Example: If 1 racer finishes, the player that had the last kill of a racer will receive a 1.2 million credit prize, and the player that had the 2nd most recent kill would receive 800k credits.

I believe this is a good way of saying thanks to those who help spice things up for the racers.

Please reply to this thread if you intend to race.

And, yes, I will most likely be guest hosting this weekend.

Hey hey peoples! Well, this was an interesting race. I'm sorry I don't hav the writeup done yet but least I could do is put up the info and stats.

The Racers
---------

Screwball - TGFT lieutenant, Usual moderator of the Deneb Run, he last ran in Deneb Run #9, which he won, before taking over the Deneb Run from Martin

Stranger - Union trader and repeat racer

LeberMac - #2 all-time racer in the Deneb Run and Council member of the [Itan] guild

Calder - An itani racer from the Corporate Sectors Run days, new to the Deneb Run and lieutenant of the [SB] guild

Blackhole Goldclaw - A UIT racer, also from the Corporate Sectors Run days

{EDITED}- for T-rating Sarahanne

Note: Guides, I know this is questionable at best. Yell at me to cut it out (or edit it) at your leisure.

"On your mark. Get set" And the turrets fired, signaling the start of the 31st run to Deneb and back. Screwball lead the pack to the wormhole, closely followed by Calder, LeberMac and then Stranger. Blackhole Goldclaw hit a storm but then pulled up last.... heading to the wrong wormhole. He continued, however, as Calder and LeberMac pulled ahead of Screwball heading into Sedina. Stranger was battling the front two entering B-8, leaving Screwball in 4th and Blackhole Goldclaw in a distant 5th as he entered Bractus. As he continued to argue with me on the merits of it being the same race but in reverse, Calder extended his lead and was first into Ukari. LeberMac pulled in thirty seconds behind him, with Stranger only ten seconds behind LeberMac. Screwball brought up the rear as Blackhole Goldclaw exploded back to Sedina, thus disqualifying him from the race.

As he cursed at and insulted the race official about the disqualification, not hearing the rules and the reverse course idea, Calder and LeberMac went to Dantia via Rhamus while Stranger and Screwball went via Pyronis. LeberMac was first into Dantia, followed by Calder and then Screwball. Stranger was only one jump behind in Pyronis. Blackhole Goldclaw continued to argue as a plan formulated in his head as he floated outside of Corvus Hold. Bolting towards Sol II, the two racers from Rhamus took detours, but LeberMac's detour would sling him into an unmapped asteroid field, allowing Screwball to slip into 2nd place. This would change yet again warping into the Serco home system, with LeberMac in the lead, Calder behind and Screwball in 3rd.

Yet another time, heading for the wormhole to Betheshee, the lead would switch up, with Screwball in 1st with LeberMac three thousand meters behind. Stranger was closing the gap, only four seconds behind LeberMac, as Calder pulled ahead for 2nd. But, as it was shown before, the lead wasn't solid in this race as it switched up yet another time. LeberMac led into Deneb, after taking fire from Spellcast's railguns, lowering him to 50%. Calder came in next, with Screwball right behind. Stranger would drop off as he was eliminated from the race, leaving only three racers left. Calder and LeberMac would fight neck and neck for the lead all the way to Odia, as Screwball lost precious seconds with many plot around jumps in Itani space. Calder was first into Odia M-14.... only to meet one pilot: Blackhole Goldclaw. his rage had not lessened, evidenced by the massive amounts of floating ordnance around the station's entrances. Calder gritted his teeth and slammed his turbo for the dock. Unfortunately, his ship's computer did not respond fast enough, leaving his ship to take damage from Lightning mines for three seconds before he exploded. LeberMac was right behind him. He turboed for an entrance, and, before he could activate the docking sequence, was launched through the station's XithRite armor, destroying his ship. Screwball would try as well, but with sucess where the other two failed. Blackhole Goldclaw walked away with 2.6 million credits (600k from a bounty) proving that, even if you're out of the race as a racer, you can still win cash prizes. And Screwball, his first race since he first began MCing it in Deneb Run #11, won a first place prize, showing racing skills never truly leave one.

The Stats
--------

Screwball - 33:43 - Orion Hornet Convoy Guardian, FC Batt and No Weps
Stranger - DNF - Hornet Mk2, FC Batt and No Weps
LeberMac - DNF - Orion Hornet Convoy Guardian, FC Batt and No Weps
Calder - DNF - Orion Hornet Convoy Guardian, FC Batt and No Weps
Blackhole Goldclaw - DNF - Warthog Mineral Extractor, FC Batt and No Weps

Interesting Facts

1) Blackhole Goldclaw was able to elminate the first two racers to arrive at M-14, earning him two million credits total as the other two racers (himself being one of them) had been aliminated or disqualified.

2) As LeberMac said, a single N2 would've been very useful in taking out the mines.

3) Besides BG, there was little hostility to the racers (except for Spellcast). A lull in pirate activity perhaps?

4) Calder would've won the race but lag issues caused him to sit in the dock for a full three seconds before he died, entering the station. Further proof that reliable equipment is necessary for racing.

1) You're blue. Blue is Itani. If you backstabbed or not isn't my concern "Better dead than red" :P

2)That's not the writeup...

Screwball makes his second mark on the top 50, 29th, knocking out Maximian's only time (36:24)

Also, he raced a little more recently...

I'm suprised there weren't as many UIT racers. I couldn't make it due to conflict w/ time, although if it were at 2:00, it wouldn't have mattered.

Looking forward to the write-up,

fooz not make it to an event in time? What are the odds of that?!

Edited for content. But I think you'll still get the drift of BG's quote.

hahaahah, =D

I was pretty mad..

I think just having it say " BUT I'll HAVE F***** THE F******* F*********'s"

would work too :)

Calder != Itani

I wanted to take the opportunity to expand your vocabulary, you'll need it in highschool. You can get a ticket for F*** but I'm pretty sure they can't give you a ticket for shouting "NOOKIE" if you get upset.

Eh, well, I dont use cuss words in RL, I'd say "D-ARVIT"!

3) Besides BG, there was little hostility to the racers (except for Spellcast).

I was not hostile to the racers... just lebermac and only because i was bored.
