Announcing the results of The Deneb Run #32, sponsored by EnB and TGFT.

The Pilots
----------
Erik C.: UIT, council member of SB, husband of Joyce Sanders, his well known alt is the winningest racer in The Deneb Run.

Miharu: Itani, council member and Lieutenant of SB, wife of Jan Rhapsody, veteran racer, and hostess at the Makchuga, she has yet to finish lower than 2nd place.

Joyce Sanders: UIT, commander of SB, wife of Erik C., and co-hostess at the Makchuga, she is a veteran racer that usually places in the top 3.

Maximian: Itani, council member of TGFT, he previously raced in The Deneb Run #25.

Spaceranger: UIT, member of TGFT, he's fast and a veteran racer, but he has yet to finish a race.

Stranger: UIT, member of BDC, he's also a fast veteran racer that has yet to finish a race.

Mike-L: Serco, member of SCAR, this is his first race.

Nikana Olos: UIT, this is his first race (under this name).

The Race
--------
(Thanks for Erik C. for writing up this part)

The eight racers took off to begin Deneb Run #32. Erik C. was first to the wormhole, followed by Miharu, and Joyce Sanders. Spaceranger, Stranger, Nikana Olos and Maximian followed close behind. There, they met some pirates, one being the infamous Niki. It was at this point that Nikana Olos was hunted down and eliminated from the race. The rest zoomed past into Sedina, Erik C. still in the lead, but now Spaceranger had pulled ahead to 2nd place. Stranger was next, leading Mike-L, Miharu, Joyce Sanders and Maximian.

Spaceranger pulled ahead of the pack to take 1st place into Latos, leaving Erik C. close behind in 2nd. The rest of the race group passed through B-8, which was inhabited by Mr. Spuck and A-Dawg, more or less unharmed. Stranger, Maximian, and Miharu entered O-12 as the two leaders battled it out in B-6. Miharu reported being hit by Mr. Spuck as Joyce Sanders and Mike-L entered Latos. Zooming through Ukari, Spaceranger lost the lead due to a storm, allowing Erik C. to plot around before jumping. and regain the lead entering Initros. Stranger entered Ukari a full fourteen seconds ahead of Miharu, Maximian a close nine seconds behind her. Mike-L and Joyce Sanders brought up the rear, heading into Ukari simultaneously.

Stranger and Mike-L headed for Helios, while the rest went through Initros. Miharu had stolen 2nd from Spaceranger, Erik C. led into Pyronis, followed a full minute and twenty seconds later by Spaceranger. Joyce Sanders entered Initros as Erik C. roared into Dantia, a full jump ahead of the 2nd place contender. Erik C. ran for the wormhole to Sol II, only to meet spuck's dead hamster. He almost outran the missiles but was destroyed just before entering the wormhole. Dead racer #2. With that, Spaceranger took the lead, followed by Stranger and Miharu. Maximian and Mike-L was just entering Dantia. Spaceranger entered Betheshee as Joyce Sanders trailed, entering Dantia.

The order was now Spaceranger in Geira Rutilus, Stranger and Miharu one jump behind him, Maximian and Mike-L in Bethshee and joyce Sanders in Sol II. But the positions would bump up one as Spaceranger was knocked out by spuck's dead hamster on the way into Deneb. Stranger's lead would be short lived, however, as spuck's dead hamster struck again..So now, Miharu led into Deneb, Maximian and Mike-L one jump behind her, with Joyce Sanders in Betheshee. Joyce was pulling up to Mike-L, jockeying for the 3rd place spot as Miharu roared into Cantus, almost two jumps ahead of Maximian now, who was just entering Eo.

The race continued. Miharu pulled into Itan, with Maximian in Setalli Shinas and Joyce Sanders in Metana. Mike-L didn't race fast enough as the Itani Strike Force took him out. The order would stay the same, Miharu pulling almost 3 systems ahead of Maximian at one point. Docking in M-14 with heavy resistance but a pro escort at her side for first. Maximian took some fire from Erik C. but docked for 2nd safely. Joyce Sanders rounded out the survivors with 3rd place.

The Stats
---------
Miharu: | 33:42 | Orion Hornet, fc, 1x Neut Mk3, 1x iceflare
Maximian: | 35:49 | Orion Hornet, fc, no weaps
Joyce Sanders: | 40:10 | Warthog TD, fc, iceflare
Mike-L: | DNF | Vult MkI, fc, 2x sunflare
Stranger: | DNF | Orion Hornet, fc, 2x XGX blaster
Spaceranger: | DNF | Hog MkII, fc, no weaps
Erik C.: | DNF | Orion Hornet, fc, 1x iceflare
Nikana Olos: | DNF | Vult MkI, fc, 2x Neut MkI

Interesting observations:

1) After the massacre at last week's race, this was one of the most weaponized race fleets seen in a while, if ever.

2) Despite their weapons, 50% of the racers were dead by the halfway point in Deneb. It was a small miracle that 3 racers made it to the finish line.

3) Miharu won this race exactly 1 second faster than the winner of last week's race.

FYI, I'm a guy, and that was hardly my first race, just my first under that file.

Oh yeah, mention Joyce and Erik being married and ignore me and Jan. Friendly. >_<

Lol. cyber...um, heh.

I just do see it happening, Miharu, but then again, that's the point =D

Sorry, I thought that the racing couple was relevant, whereas Jan didn't race so I didn't mention your status... I'll update the description.

I think I'll take this moment to suggest a few rules to be added to the list for the next race:

(1) Killing a racer via mining (especially L-mining) the ending point (Corvus Hold, Odia M-14) do not count towards "pirates" winning prize money. If all kills of racers are made by mining a station, leftover prize money is added to the pot for the next race, proportionally raising the prize money for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

(2) Intentionally ramming your (racing) ship into those of other racers, requiring them to go back to a station to repair, should be a disqualification from the entire event (prize-wise), both by racing and pirating. Same rules apply to racers killed by this method/after someone has been DQ'd for this as in (1).

(3) More of a space-saving thing, non-TGFT racers should have priority for being in the main racing group. (If you're TGFT, you can report your position via guild chat.) May be already "implemented".

zam: Don't be nosy. Even if that were the case (it's not), how would it be any of your business?

(1) <snip>

Agreed. It was inventive the first time, but it wears thin very quickly. :S

Where was this occuring? I can understand if it's inside M-14, but I don't see why it should be banned outside of that. It's hard enough to do as it is, and I think it really should be up to the individual players/characters to decide if they want to play 'dirty' (within the current set of rules). (Heck, I'm not even sure you'd define ramming as 'dirty', considering the racers can already use weapons on each other. What are the people without weapons going to do in dire circumstances?)

It'll be difficult to adjudicate, and unless large sections of the field are being destroyed by ramming, it's probably overkill.

I think she's referring to Spaceranger ramming people BEFORE the race started, as Screwball was rolling out the rules. Even if we all were Union, we were taking damage, and the start was delayed time and again as people had to go instation to repair, and we were all far away. Fitting that the Rammin' Moron (TM) didn't finish the race, serves him right.

Once the race is on, I see no problem with this... if you can pull it off.

excelent idea, i will try to attend from now on.
the place should be swarming with contestants.

think about organising something similar with busses only, so ocasional players (even non-paying members) could join and make it more interesting at least for the first part.

greets
