Nation War #6 on Sunday

The Shedu went in knowing, that with an Itani bounty on his head, many would be those trying to take him out. Trying to take tactical advantage of this, he hoped his wingman would make easy picking of those caught in the bounty's thrall. As luck would have it, though, the wingman didn't even make it to launch time.

The first target: Astaroth. The fiegn toward the UIT actually brought him into the Shedu's sites sooner than hoped. Ignoring the minor pings of several UIT fighters, Shedu kept his GT trained Astaroth, while launching flare salvos into groups of Itani.

Then a major flarestrike and energy salvos from multiple attackers on his spinning SCP took him down to less than 10%. Regaining his orientation, the Shedu singlemindedly closed again on Astaroth, and finished him.

But the elation was short lived as the UIT continued their relentless persuit. Turning to face his nearest aggressor, he made the grave mistake of presenting this adversary with a broad target.

A perfect target for Jefferson Clay.

Its... Astaroth ;)

Hehe, way to go Hortan! Woo!

Actually, I came up with that tactic on-the-fly after reviewing the 3 forces. The "previously agreed upon" part was that after the UIT forces endorsed the idea, I msg'd the Itani, and they confirmed the plan. I wasn't really sure what would happen until the furball actually started, but it obviously ended up working out well for us.

As for my part in the combat, it was short and sweet. I took a Rev C up against Mike-L in his Aggresso and got some good shots in. Unfortunately, he then turned away from whomever he was attacking and focused his AGT and rockets on me. While I was dogfighting him and losing hull, someone else nailed me from behind pretty good, and then Mike-L finished me off. I think I saw him explode just after that, but it wasn't me that scored the kill.

I want to hear Hortan's story!

OK
First of, I had great fun!
Started out by following the commander (Invisiblish one) who fortunately turned out to be very non-invisible. Engaged Zorg with Invisiblish until Zorg bought the ticket, scanned to see who were around. Was frankly astonished nobody had shot me out of the sky yet...
I engaged Essena along with most of the rest of UIT and was once more the insignifigent gnat who did not get shot at. Essena went, and only one target was left. Dont know who it was and at the time didnt care. Went into the fray and saw the roid-bounce, participated in the following short battle but not explosion.
At that time only two persons were left, me and Eric. Thats it I thought, now he cant ignore me anymore until I realised he was in a Moth...
The most astounding was that my paint job wasnt even scratched...

So beginners luck (my first day with PvP), combined with no notoriority and sticking to the plan worked.

BTW, it was only 1 AM in the morning. I had to get up at 4...

One in for UIT and SIGMA

This was my first nation war and it was fun. I found myself sort of red "leader" because the owner of the serco group left a few minutes before the start. I guess a 30 minutes' delay was a bit too long.

I gladly take your curses, Erik C / Blue Streak. It was not easy to keep contact with your valk. I never was in a position to flare you.

After this first kill I targeted one of the 3 or 4 yellows who had been on my tail, Menendel. Fortunately, he was in a valk too, so I was able to take him down with gats and flares quickly enough.

At that point I think I had about 40% health and most of my flares but I realized that I was the only Serco left. Something had gone wrong.

Somewhat disconcerted I started to lose focus against clever and well organized UIT foes ripping off myhull bit by bit. A foolish turbo thrust exposed my prom one time too many and my assailants expeditiously sent me back home to Initros. Nice job, UITs.

Thanks to Erik C / Blue Streak for organizing this battle and congrats to Hortan!

LeberMac sat on a beach on Itan, oblivious to the battles raging in grayspace, while he enjoyed a weekend away.

He absentmindedly wondered if the Itani had won, between shots of tequila.

*Miharu reaches through LeberMac's comm unit and whacks him in the back of the head with a bottle of tequila.

You're laaaaazy. Missed the Deneb Run, too!

I think I'll start calling you Lazy Leber. It fits.

It seems that you like revenge, Screwie!
In #5 i sneaked at yer back and cowardly killed you.
Now it was more fair, but not absolutely if you say someone whacked you from behind this time...
We are gentlemen, so we need to settle this like gentlemen - A DUEL!

Nice luck, Hortan. If I manage to kill Screwball next week, I'm after you.
Such luck is forbidden to repeat.

--- EDIT ---

My suggestion for the next event - nation teams should be placed each in apexes of the triangle. It'd me much fairer than WE-SQUISH-SERCO straight line that takes place now...

no problem.

Dont expect to survive 10 seconds next time anyway...

ufoman, I try to move the itani group around to get a rough triangle, distances approximately 2,000 meters apart.

Thanks a lot, Erik!

Mike-L certainly killed me and did a lot of damage before the kill. I just remember that someone else hit me from behind in the process. That's not a dig on you.

Anyway, I'll gladly try a 1-vs-1 with you sometime, but be advised that I'll be away for about a week, so it'll have to wait.

invisiblish one: UIT Commander (During the war)
War Record: 1 - 0

After Examining the Serco and Itani forces it was determined that the Serco, with far more heavies than i personally thought needed, were to be the main target. After examining the actual players i myself judged that such players as Shedu, lucky strike, Bunny, and Mike-L were to be most feared (As i had only heard of Mecha and Riddik, and only just met Culebra). The others i've to seen fight and know from personal experience to be formidable foes. Commander Zorg, i was told (thanx to Hortan), was also a formidable foe as Hortan had just suffered his first 2 loses at the hands of the Commander. The Itani forces saw the same treatment as Blue Streak, Astaroth, sapo_sk, and Zela all seemed or so i believe to be formidable. evilsheep (whom i've never met) was not to be worried with, and Lou... well i was shooting at Lou before the battle began so not much to say there.

The plan as mentioned was to face the Itani and turn to attack the Serco. I previously decided that Shedu would be my main concern as i had seen him fight the most. I believe most to have taken on Mike and/or Mecha. It now appears to me that jefferson clay may have targeted Shedu for the bounty, which i must congratulate him on grasping.

The war began and immediately i boosted forward, stopping just short of ramming an Itani Valk. Chasing Shedu and firing as much as possible, and taking some well placed rockets by Erik (BS), i became aware of Shedu chasing a foe of his own. After watching him slowly drop in hull, and dispersing of his own foe i had the view of a very big ship blow up all over me. This led to me chasing after Zela for a few seconds, whom decided to drop rockets rather close to me. After realizing Zela's most impressive speed, i turned back finding Zorg chasing down someone. I got to see, what i believe to be, Zorg shooting Screwball and seeing Screwball fall. After taking several hits from Zorg, i had the unfortunate ability of becoming Zorgs main target until flying just out of reach of his ADV Gat. I turned (thank you Vulture MK III) and turboed back finding Zorg to be attacking my fellow UIT combatants. Zorg's side hull became available and i unloaded my entire battery on his hull, which then too exploded in my face.

After seeing a valk fly by and becoming my new target, i checked the radar to see all white, and looked at the chat to see the mass numbers of people calling out: "I'm dead" or "I'm out". After dodging a set of Zela's rockets, i found him to turbo by ram a roid and unload a set of rockets that... i am very very sad to say exploded right in the middle of my screen. Head on collision didnt go well, as i was sent packing to Nyrius.

-io

On a personal note: Thanx for the invite Erik, glad to have participated. Thanx Screwball for the UIT-Itani alliance. Thanx UIT co-pilots for the kill on Zorg. No thanx to Zela for the rockets in which i swallowed open mouth and all. And Finally Thanx Hortan for winning the UIT another Nation War event (and me personally for a 1-0 for both nation wars, and UIT commander). Look forward to the next war Erik.
