Mining Event Friday, March 24th 7pm CT

Mar 23, 2006 Obsidian link
TGFT is in the process of organizing hardy miners and combat defenders to complete mineral excavation contracts in bot infested sectors.

The universe is changing and there is a growing demand for ores. Several groups and factions are trying to corner the ore market. To stay ahead of the competition Council Member Obsidian has secured ore contracts for TGFT guild members, probationary members and any other available pilot.

Our goal is to mine ore from sectors that contain hive bots to practice self-defense techniques and group mining techniques. Hopefully the cooler asteroids will allow us to mine larger amounts of ore and we will yield larger profits in exchange for the increased risks. Pirates will be hunting us and there is a good change of failure, however we must persist and strive to overcome all obstacles.

For these expeditions:
Miners are required to have a strong constitution, hard head and determination. You will be paid
Defenders are required to have a fast ship and even faster reflexes. You will be paid.
Leaders are required to have nerves of steel and the abilty to herd cats. You will be paid.

The next contract is Friday, March 24th at 7pm CT.

Please respond to this thread and I will contact you with further information

Sorry ya missed it, spuck. I had fun on my mining team with one miner, tho. Hehe.

Can we have a proper time for the next one (if it's being held again)? I've never heard of a "CT" timezone, and apparently neither has any of the Unix date functions. Legible dates might, y'know, boost attendance.

CT = Central Time = GMT-6?
Or am I wrong?
Mar 27, 2006 sarahanne link
Depending on the daylight savings GMT is -6 from CT or Central Time
Mar 27, 2006 LeberMac link
Any loyal red-blooded American knows that CT = Central Time, the timezone that all right-thinking Americans are in.

>:P

Sweet! I'll be joining that timezone! Is there a secret handshake? or perhaps a harem or thong?
Mar 27, 2006 sarahanne link
You have to be willing to relocate.

However it is the offical time zone of Guild Software.
Mar 27, 2006 moldyman link
I am relocating. No, I won't be near Wisconsin (Thank whatever, it's too darn cold up there >_<)
Mar 28, 2006 MSKanaka link
/me wonders if "right-thinking" means Republican, then remembers that the devs didn't vote for Bush back in 2004.
Mar 28, 2006 terribleCabbage link
"Central Time"? Damn Americans, think they're the centre of the damn universe... *Grumbles*

(11am Saturday here - I'll turn up if there's a repeat. :P )

We have several timezone in the US Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific etc...
Mar 29, 2006 jexkerome link
Well, I have my own Jex Universal Time (JUT), centered, of course, around widdle ole me.

Of course, those dumb americans call it "Pacific Standard Time", but what do they know?
Mar 29, 2006 Whytee link
hmm, 0300 in the morning...
As with all the other events, can it be moved to a time more eatable for us heretics that live in the EUCT (European Central Time...)? 4PM for instance? I know it is friday, but then we can make the event BEFORE the obligatory partying friday night...
Mar 29, 2006 LeberMac link
Nothing stopping you from running your own event, Whytee! Erik/BlueStreak/moldyman/MonkofAkan tried this with the Deneb run (moving it earlier by 2 hours), and attendance dropped like a rock.
So there's a little bit of precedence.

Oh and Miss Rhapsody, "Right-Thinking" means republican of course! Ask the Devs about 'ol republican WI State Senator Ted Kanavas and how he's gonna ease their tax burden! (Bill going thru that will give large tax breaks to gaming companies, video companies & movie companies who are in Wisconsin. Yay!)

Yep those republicans, friend to the gaming industry! Now, where's my tax rebate check? I need to fill up my gas-guzzling SUV that I got at half-price due to federal subsidies...

Wow, another "cater to me coz I'm too lazy to host this myself" whiner. Geez, one would think that with toshiro and that other guy we had enough...

4pm in the UK? hmm that means 10am Friday here. Yes, I cn see it now...

"Class instead doing a traditional lab we're going to study non-newtonian physics. I have to run an event before everyone goes bar hopping. Pick your nation and fire up those i-books" Like the school filter software would let me access the game in my classroom.

Sorry, get some EU people to run events for you if the timing is bad with the US players.
I have a life too.
