Phaserlight, calling Miharu an "RP veteran" is like calling me a "combat veteran."
I vote for sticky.

A) Some people who have common sense, "the average person", needs a reminder ocassionally.
B) Some people will not follow something unless it's set in stone
C) Guides would have something to point to and say "This is why I did ____ to you. You broke a rule"

A) OK I get "A". But you don't need MORE rules to remind a user. Just a little email from a dev or guide would usually do the trick, methinks. Apply common sense according to individual situations.
B) This smacks of the kind of "zero tolerance" crap that we get in schools nowadays. Like kids being expelled for having scissors. The sole reason for zero tolerance policies is to make the lazy folks at the enforcing body's jobs easier. These forums shouldn't be about coloring within the lines and getting an attaboy for 3 years of "Being Nice." That being said, there are a lot of young'uns on this board (I define young'uns as those under 30 I guess) who may need a little guidance and definition. What's required is an engaged and "tough but fair" moderating crew, and I think we already have that.
C) So, let me see, if people aren't following the existing rules, the solution is to create more rules. I'm sure that will work well. They've beeen following the existing rules to well, how could this solution fail?
But "stickying" this stuff couldn't hurt I suppose. [approved]

Now Leber does have a point, how ever most (note, not all) of the RPers here I have found to be rather smart people so with any luck they would read some thing that is starring them in the face and understand why people are getting pissed off at them.
But really it's just a fence, it only keeps the honest people out, the bad people will keep on keeping on no matter.

"Whatever time would be spent making this thread stickied, I hereby request that it be used to update the screenshots section of this website instead."
That extra second won't make much of a difference.
I approve of the stickiness, though I think the "hijacking" rules might end up being one of those gray areas that's too hard to enforce uniformly.

Wait, you're actually planning on enforcing these "rules"?!
Perfect! Finally some direction in my life!
I've been waiting for someone to make me read and silently tolerate bad masturbatory writing for decades!

Nobody's making you read it.
Golden Rule the Third: If you wish to participate in a multi-person RP thread, it's recommended that you read the thread in its entirety as well as any other threads that may be related. This will help prevent headaches and arguments over continuity later.
"Golden Rule the Second: If you don't like someone else's writing or don't have anything constructive or nice to say, don't say it. Even better, don't read the thread so you won't be tempted to."
Because I can tell wether or not I like someone's writing by sniffing the ether. Yes. Makes sense.
Don't read it if you don't like it. Genius.
Don't read it if you don't like it. Genius.
Do you like my writing, Genka?
I can't tell, I've got a cold.
Aha! All that ether-sniffing explains everything!
The 3rd rule would be tedious to enforce as well.
It would almost be better to allow users to have their own thread that only they could write in. I guess you could also simply write fiction to your own website and link to it from here.

Bah.
Don't you all slag off ether. As far as I am concerned, ether fields are alive and well.
You don't believe me.

A good point leber, however, some people even if they are 'younger' dont really need much other then some good nudges by the community
Myself, obviously.
/me is pround that he's only gotten moved to a diffrent channel...and it took me half a year to figure out why, too. Oh , well RelayeR did mute me once cuz' she was trying to type code, then forgot about it =D

approval on rules, and approval on sticky
Golden Rule the Seventh: When someone puts in a placeholder in a thread, it means that someone is editing something wich might be dependent on previous posts. For continuity reasons, it might be best to wait until the placeholder is edited before continuing the thread, unless your intervention is parallel or not dependant on the current timeline.
