VO Events Google Calendar

Alright, I have taken the role of Someone[tm] and set up a public google calendar called "VO Events". These are the URLs:

HTML: http://www.google.com/calendar/render?cid=4ek8ik1mh8bqqk9jnj6l7481hs@group.calendar.google.com

XML: http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/4ek8ik1mh8bqqk9jnj6l7481hs@group.calendar.google.com/public/basic

iCal: http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/4ek8ik1mh8bqqk9jnj6l7481hs@group.calendar.google.com/public/basic

If you use Gmail, you can just subscribe to it. Guild portals and such should be able to import the events through the XML feed. I've taken the liberty of adding the Deneb Run for now.

Event maintainers (moldy, Obsidian, Screwball, Cunjo, and whoever else who runs the occasional event...), if you want maintainer access to the calendar, please leave me your google username at the address in the calendar feed.

OK, so I downloaded the ical file, it opened up and placed it in my ical calander, does it auto update? How do we add events to it?

Various iCal-supporting programs will probably start supporting live calendar feeds at some point, but right now, if you download the ical file and import it into Outlook, Evolution or whatever, I highly doubt it will auto-update. It will if you use Google Calendar of course.

I need to play around with it some more myself to learn how everything works, hopefully we can have a calendar badge or something that people can easily embed on their guild pages etc.

That's a pretty cool idea, but I don't have a google username.

I subscribed, but I can't create events. I wanted to create the MAXIMUM ONLINE WEEKEND event for 4 PM GMT this Saturday.

There ya go, Screwball, in case you wanted it.

Cygnus, when you have it figured out, please tell me. I can give you the Rhetorical Hammer of Knowledge Giving for my brain.

Cool. Yet another calendar to add to my Google Calendar list (I have 7 of my own and 3 that are not mine). :-)

Leber, I have to give you access to add events, drop me your gmail address and I'll fix it.

Actually, everyone who wants access, just /msg SkyCommand next time youre online, include CALENDAR in the message somewhere and I'll grep it out of the log. Include your gmail username, or if you need an invite, your email address. That way I get to verify that the right players are getting the access :)

Works awesome for me now. I knew there was a reason I used Firefox before :) I'm posting events now and such.

On second thought, how the hell do I add events to the VO calendar and not mine... -.-

Looks like I'll be using iCal a bunch more...

moldy, I need to give you write access to the calendar. If you're comfortable posting your gmail username here, do that, or PM it to me ingame.

If you don't use google (like me) just use an iCal client, subscribe to the calendar (click on the link) and it takes care of itself. Anyone on a mac, just click on the iCal link.
