MASSIVE BATTLE STOPS TRADE IN LATOS
A massive battle for control of the Latos H-2 Wormhole closed trade down on the busy route for close to 3 hours.
According to witnesses, 5 members of CLM moved into Latos H2 and encountered a lone Viper pilot. The Viper engaged a CLM pilot and was destroyed. Logs of Galaxy-net Communications indicate that a general call went out requesting military assistance in H2. Viper responded, and forwarded the request to several other organizations. Coalition of Itan (ITAN), The Guild of Free Traders (TGFT), Sigma Shipping Company (SSC), and several free-range pilots all sent resources to the area. Long range Orion sensor logs confirm seven CLM and 14 opposition pilots fought for nearly 3 hours in H2. By even the most optimistic independent reports, CLM was very clearly a superior force.
Says one fighter pilot: "Fourteen combat pilots should easily vanquish 5-7 pirates. That we fought for 3 hours and still couldn't manage it is very troubling."
Viper tells a different story.
"At no point was this conflict out of our control. We brought a superior force, both in terms of numbers and skill, and forced them out."
The Cargo Liberation Movement disagrees.
"Evreh time we popped one o' dem, 2 more came in, and we popped dem too! Dunno bout me mates, but I wannent forced out, I went off fer a nap!"
Skirmishes between The Viper Guild and pirate factions are an ongoing occurrence in gray space, generally limited to small, short skirmishes, most often not leaving Sedina. But in recent weeks CLM has had an increased public presence. CLM pirates have been spotted pirating more frequently outside of gray space, including one confirmed incident inside the Itani Nation.
It's clear the Cargo Liberation Movement is becoming more bold. Some contribute this to the slow stagnation of The Syndicate (the only other official pirate guild). Others believe their rise is due to lack of opposition.
Says one angry trader: "The Vipers aren't around. The de-facto protectors of the galaxy are off drinking Verasi Koffee and munching Sedina Chocolate instead of protecting the traders."
Still others offer more varied, less probable theories.
"It's Blak! [The now disbanded Black Lance Guild -ed.] Has to be. They're like 50-armed puppeteers, pulling their strings all over the galaxy, steering every one of us to their own devious end game!"
Whatever the cause of the escalation, it's clear the pirates are gaining ground, and The Vipers may not be equipped to deal with them. While public Viper reports are typically optimistic, insiders tell a different story:
"Yes, we're worried."

Long range Orion sensor logs confirm seven CLM and 14 opposition pilots fought for nearly 3 hours in H2.
Actually the count of fighters on the Vipers' side were changing as battle evolved, and there were no 14 pilots fighting at the same time. I remember there were one single moment when we hit the limit of group (so somebody couldn't /group join us) but then someone quickly had to log off. Though it looks for me like there were 7 pirates fighting all together at some moment (sorry if I'm mistaken)
When the battle just started pirates were cleared from sector for 2 times (or 3?) until they realised that they need more firepower and firsm and tumble switched to using heaby bombers. They were good with using these bombers and did a good teamwork with protecting them, so the balance started to switch and there were once a moment when all the Vipers were popped.

lol 10 pirates in H-2, bullshit, the only real pirates in this game in my opinion is: Yoda, Mystic, Gavan, Shape, Tumblemonster and myself. The rest is just pirates wannabees thinking its cool beeing in a pirate guild, wearing the pirate tag.
A pirate is out looking for prey 100% of its playtime, Yoda used to say a pirate should allways should boom 5 traders before going to B-8, i disagree a pirate never goes to B-8, a pirate is out looking for prey ALL the time.
Ofource Niki and Splash would have been Uber pirates, but they havent trashed theyr Itani standings, so they are not real pirates in my opinion.
Ofcourse making a battle with several fighters facing eachother no and then is fun, but it aint making you a bloody pirate.
If you want to PVP, create a PVP alt.
As for the Vipers, i really dont see them as a effective force to stop pirating, due to theyr idiotic choise of ships, flying around in rev c`s and corvus vults, will NOT save any traders from pirates, i chased a trader in Latos H-2 a couple of days ago with Nerde Verde on my tail, while he was rescharging his flat battery i was inf boosting after the taur booming it.
So dear vipers, if you are gonna save any traders CHOOSE a police ship, NOT a PVP ship.
The only one in Vipers guild that have somewhat understood this matter is Freedom bird, atleast he uses a ship that can keep up with both the trader and the bad guys.
The only time a viper booms me, is when i allow them to engage me in a fight, i would love to see them chase my crappy hog and kill me in a REV C.

As for the Vipers, i really dont see them as a effective force to stop pirating, due to theyr idiotic choise of ships, flying around in rev c`s and corvus vults, will NOT save any traders from pirates, i chased a trader in Latos H-2 a couple of days ago with Nerde Verde on my tail, while he was rescharging his flat battery i was inf boosting after the taur booming it.
So dear vipers, if you are gonna save any traders CHOOSE a police ship, NOT a PVP ship.
The only one in Vipers guild that have somewhat understood this matter is Freedom bird, atleast he uses a ship that can keep up with both the trader and the bad guys.
The only time a viper booms me, is when i allow them to engage me in a fight, i would love to see them chase my crappy hog and kill me in a REV C.

Hear hear, Norse. The majority of "pirates" are just PvPers picking on opponents who have big slow ships with rarely any guns. No asking for cargo or money, or asking as they fire. No real goal other than another notch on their PK count.
And the pirates won nothing, seeing as those three hours was the only time I saw a CLM pirate in H-2 in close to a month. And, to rub salt in a wound, if you were pirates, you would be going after traders. As it was, many TGFT moths made it through, with a 0% casualty rate. So... why are you "Cargo Liberators" again?

Obviously, when CLM is fighting a pile of Vipers and their allies, traders are going to get through. That's kindof the point of them fighting us now isn't it? Cosidering moldy was on his favorite "fire rockets and run" strategy, I think you've got nothing much to say.
As far as the numbers go: There were only 7 pirates at the max, and I'm pretty sure we started with 5. I'm not sure exactly how many fought against us, but I do remember there were a lot more of you, and more still over the course of tha battle. We cleared you guys a couple times too, and several times we were cleared it was us staging in an empty sector, because there were too many of you, and if we came in one at a time, we would have been slaughtered. I could go back to the logs and try to count all the people, but meh. It was a great battle, lots of fun!

Yeah, it was a blast. As for trader protection, engaged pirates obviously cannot chase them, but I think I saw three at most crossing while the furball was going on, so there was not much of that. The pirates were using real tactics while the anti-pirate coalition was far more disorganized; as for the choice of weapons and tactics, in a furball anything goes, so rocket-n-run is as fine as rag rocket spamming; interestingly enough, no one brought seekers or swarms at all, which clearly shows that when it comes to combat all those present respect the same rules. The most anti-pirates at any one time was eight, when Roda Slane arrived; at that time, the group was full and Roda shot Maso a few times. In fact, the sheer amount of rockets made for at least one friendly casualty with us, not sure if that was the case with the pirates. Anyway, after three hours of fighting, my hands were cramping, my stomach was roaring, and I had to take a break. It was a great fight!

After the dustup PA had the other day in B8, I have to wonder what's cooler:
a) The fact that we have a world in which we can engage in massive player v. player battles with coordinated tactics and team oobjectives...
b) or the fact that we can come on here after words and shoot the breeze with the guys we were just trying to shoot a couple of days ago.
That VO offers both is what makes it such a damn fine game.

The battle was fought well on both sides, each giving a little ground and taking a little. The way it ended was myself and Racer on the CLM side and MB and FreedomBird on the Vpr side. It started as a battle between pirate and vpr and ended the same way.
As for pirates and what Norse calls pirate wannabes, every pilot that fought by my side during this battle is good in their own way, CLM doesnt ask them to fit into some mold. They know their jobs and they do it. The most important thing was, each and everyone covered their guildmates backs. We fought side by side and we sometimes died and came right back to continue.
Yes some traders got through during the battle, as was stated, they saw their oppurtunity and took it.This is the mark of a good trader. All in all it was great fun and my respect goes out to all who fought the good fight.

I think I'm going to make a pirate who will ask for a fee of 31623, and will attack if you don't pay the exact amount. Just to spite you all.
Great fight (quite some lag due to lots of players in sector too;), I am glad I could be part of the forces smashing CLM over and over again.
As a side remark: At least one TGFT member kept the opportunity to make his trade runs through Latos H2. Not one, not two, but he reappeared constantly every 10 or 15 minutes. That said, VPR did its job by keeping the trade lane open at least.
