Flag Raid

System: Odia
Stations: Corvus Barracks Odia J-9 and Corvus Barracks Odia K-12
Starting field: Odia H-1
Flag Widget: 1cu of Random item that takes 3+ cus of space

Objective: Grab the Flag widget and bring it back to your station

The two teams meet up in J-9 and K-12. The teams go to H-1 and group up at 3,000 meters by their respective judge. One of the judges drops the widget in the field and turbos away. When they're by their group again, they call Go and the game begins. The ten-minute countdown begins and the teams can go. Note, the ten minute timer is only ten minutes if there are ten or more pilots participating, Otherwise it drops to five minutes. At that point, both teams can warp to H-1 and begin the game. The objective is to grab the ball and head back to your base station, docking in it with the widget. If you do dock successfully with it, call Dock! And the game pauses. You will then have to deliver the ball (And ONLY the person who called Dock!) to a judge for confirmation. If the pilot does not have it, or someone else is found to possess it (or any other form of cheating or disqualification found by the judges), the team not only does not score the point but also loses a point from their current score. The game resets after the timer has wound down or a goal is scored. Best of five games are played. Scouting for storms is allowed.

Prizes: 300,000 credits or 150,000 credits and a determined amount of items, depending on the item. Per pilot on the winning team. 100,000 credits to each pilot on the losing team.

Items packages:

Sniper's package - 4 Advanced Railguns and a Ultra Charge Battery
Miner's package - 2 Advanced Mineral Scanners and 4 High Density Beams
Positron Package - 4 Axia Accelerated Positron Blasters and 2 Mega Positron Blasters
Battery/Equipment Package - 2 Batteries of your choosing and 4 Weapons/Equipment items
Equipment/Weapons Package - 6 weapons/equipment items of your choice

Flag Assault

The same rules as are in Flag Raid but the Objective is to score at your opponent's station.

NOTE: Any ship and any weapon is allowed. Also, the only other rules at the moment are:

1) No leaving the odia system
2) No attempting to imitate the Flag widget with a different item.

We're going to try this tomorrow (Friday) night around 8pm Eastern Daylight Time (About 1am Saturday GMT). Time may be pushed back. Hope ya attend.

How'd it work out?

It was a blast.

We'd had a test on thursday, so many kinks were worked out.

We have two teams, called Team J-9 and Team K-12, for the sectors they are homed in. The teams for the first ever Flag Raid were:

Team J-9: Daggoth Korronoth, Anevitt, iry, and Hosha Tendarodis

Team K-12: Scrwball, Esson Lennenk, lord spidey, and Spaceranger

The game was a close-fought affair; the Flag was fought for fiercely on the starting field, and the battle continued into the home sectors until someone finally managed to dock.

Team K-12 opened up the scoreboard via Screwball, but Anevitt was to tie the score in the next sortie. In the next sortie Screwball once more took the Flag, but Anevitt was waiting for him at the home sector and took him out just as he was about to dock; however, Anevitt's ship couldn't pick up the large Flag and so Spaceranger swooped in to score. Everyone became stoked since the next goal could end the game, but in the end Team J-9 managed to get its hands on the Flag and iry scored for a 2-2 tie. It was down to the last sortie of the game, and everyone was so nervous a few players did false starts. In the end Anevitt, now in a Hornet, took the Flag and managed to dock with it while inside a veritable rocket storm, giving Team J-9 the first official Flag Raid victory.

Team K-12 were paid their 100k, while Team J-9 thought about their prizes. Iry chose a Miner's package, Daggoth went for a Sniper's package, Hosha, a new player, got a Positrons package and Anevitt asked for a Battery package consisting of 2 UCs, 2 HD beams and 2 megapositron blasters.

That was a lot of fun. Thanks for running it Erik and Joyce.

I seem to recall the order of flag aquisition slightly differently, though. Daggoth got the first flag and delivered it for J-9. Then I got the next and delivered it for K-12. I got the 3rd flag, and was heavily wounded during the pickup. Team J-9 chased us back to K-12 where I died trying to dock, but Spaceranger managed to scoop up the flag and dock, putting K-12 up 2 to 1. Anevitt then got the next two flags and managed to dock twice, though once just barely, thus winning it for team J-9.
