The 5 Stages of Trident Ownership..

Jul 22, 2012 TheRedSpy link
Dear new Trident pilot,

Congratulations on your purchase of the new Corvus Trident Type M, Please be aware there are 5 psychological stages associated with new trident ownership. Learn to recognise the signs in yourself and your loved ones and be supportive, not destructive.

Stage 1, Denial: "Trident's are totally going to get shields soon and be AWESOME! \o/"

Stage 2, Anger: "WHY DO WE EVEN HAVE TRIDENTS IF THEY CAN'T PROTECT THEMSELVES WHATS THE F**KING POINT!!!!"

Stage 3, Bargaining: "Dear Incarnate, If you add Trident shields I will be able to buy a second account to load stuff into it and you'll get more money, and the extra money will pay for the development over time! we both win!!"

Stage 4, Depression: "We're NEVER going to get shields for Tridents, they suck and are useless big behemoths!"

Stage 5, Acceptance: "Whatever, I'll just shoot everyone I see"

I dunno with shields will the tridents actually be that useful?

Considering they cant dock properly with anything but Latos M-7 I think that is what is really mitigating their usefulness.

letting them dock everywhere solves another problem, but that's another trader issue. They are already substantially useful for traders because of the huge capacity. The issue is they can't do their job as a fighter support vessel because the fighters end up supporting the trident instead of the other way around, and since the trident can't actually attack anything it defeats the entire purpose.

I think it's well established they need shields - I just thought it was rather funny that i've noticed all new trident builders seem to go through the medical phenomenon known as '5 stages of grief' and I found that amusing.

Even with shields, until Tridents' turrets autofire, they're still not going to be useful support vessels, as any fighters assigned to them are going to have their pilots outside and not manning turrets.

Yeah they will, because they will be able to offer reloads in hostile environments where the current tridents cant. The point is for the trident to assist the fighters and other craft, not for them to sit inside and shoot out the trident.

That sounds like wussy PA tactics to me :P

I'd rather be able to dock at more stations than have shields honestly.

pff, trader!

back when i could dock at every station, it was really only useful for trading, it didn't provide any combat benefit whatsoever

You can just shuttle stuff from the trident to the station anyway....besides how on earth does a trident fit inside of the station? And if it's one of those "docks beside it" things then it needs to be vulnerable to attack.

Yeah I agree with mecha

Yeah Mecha's way is fine, but not being able to dock at all for reloads way the F out in Itani space makes it sorta stupid to use against the Hive or in Deneb.

Once the mechanics for supporting two stations in a sector are fixed, certain existing stations could have detached complexes for docking capital ships. Capital stations and strategic military border stations could have them, but I don't believe capital ships should be able to dock with any station.

You shouldn't need to reload at all ARF it should automatically reload. It's a trident ffs
