Attention Players of VO: Nation War #415 will occur on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 21:00 GMT; the current winnings: 100.05 Million credits!!! (SKV, Itan, Reverlis, JoAT, TRI FusionBurn) All are invited!

There will be a Grey team this week that have the requirements of being in a recognized pirate guild or no guild and Tri-hate/KOS.

Grey team Edit: After reading and considering all the posts concerning the Grey Nation War team, I have decided upon making the following changes:

- To qualify for the team, the character must be a member (Doesn't matter if you're seriously a pirate or not) of a recognized pirate guild, these include: CLM, FAMY, IPA, @X, MOO, THC, and VOID.
- To qualify for the team, the character must have at least two hate or KOS major nation standings or native faction hate or KOS.
- To qualify for the team, the character can ask me personally to see if I will allow it.
- To qualify for the team, the character must meet only one of the previously stated restrictions
- Unguilded well-known Greyspace residents, or pirates, still have to meet these requirements

Basic Rules:
-Only those who are on-time are allowed to participate.
-You may not start fighting until the host signals the start of the battle - this includes the 15 minute period prior to the planned starting time.
-Only one trident per team.
-You may not return to the battle sector after you have left except to observe from a healthy distance in an EC-88 or EC-89.
-No running from the asteroid field.
-The last team standing wins
-Have fun!

NOTE To those who violate these rules: After a warning, The character and any know alternative characters from the account will be banned from any upcoming Nation Wars hosted by myself.

Thanks for bringing NW back!

I'd like to opt for grey team and suggest removing the grey team restrictions now and for all future NWs. Greyspace and the NW grey team isn't just for pirates/griefers. I have spent my whole career in greyspace and I consider it my home, as much as it is the home for pirates or tri-hated pilots. I shouldn't HAVE TO be a pirate or a tri-hated pilot to want to fight for freedom! I shouldn't be forced to fight for a nation when I want to fight for my home!

The problem is that not having a clear-cut way to sort people into teams results in people waffling between teams, which is annoying. I agree with your logic with respect to arguments like "We should be able to become unaligned without being evil!" and what-not, but in the context of Nation War, it's not worth the hassle. So I don't have a problem with having KOS/pirate-guild requirements to be on the Grey Team up until there is a way to be properly unaligned. Though I do think that requiring tri-KOS is overkill; native-KOS would be sufficient IMO.

Only pilots that are free from all relevant friendly fire restrictions may join the gray team. Jun 05, 2007

I am not really concerned for what rules you have for whatever event you are running in Deneb, Itan, GR, etc...

But if you are holding the event in grey space, I might have an opinion (or two), and I might not be the only one to have an opinion.

Back in 2007, you could only damage players of the same nation if one or both of you where native hated. It isn't 2007 anymore, and now anyone can damage anyone of any nation anywhere in grey. The rule cited above does not even apply anymore, as it is now obsolete.

I have two problems.

1) requiring any kos, much more trikos, to qualify as grey, is unnecessary. it is arbitrary, and made up.

2) equating being in a "pirate" or "griefer" guild to being kos, much less trikos, is laughable. just because you have a tag does not prove anything. some guilds will take anyone. being in a guild does not actually make you anything special in grey space, and only your arrogance would lead you to believe anything otherwise.

exactly what guilds are you suggesting qualify as "grey"?

Everyone in greyspace is free to do whatever they want, if that is not freedom then, by all means, go fight for your special definition of freedom.

I propose we allow the Bob Marley team as 5th party in NW. It will constitute of Neon Black who will fight for his special kind of freedom against everyone else.

Edit:
Forgot about Roda too, we will need a special "I am the Master of the Known Universe" one man team for Roda since he is already at war with everyone else.

In NW, pilots put aside differences to fight in the name of their homelands. Mine is greyspace. I will fight for the Grey team even if all my teammates are pirates or whatever.

I tried to bring back NW last week but previous obligations prevented, so I deeply appreciate this commitment.

However, the grey team qualifications are dumb man.

When I started playing VO, there was NEVER any talk of grey team qualifications. It all started when the grey team won the 1 billion credit prize. There must have been some shady business going on there because it certainly ruffled up the feathers of the host at the time because after that...grey team had to be TRI-KOS.

If this doesn't change then TRI will start developing its own version on Nation War that has NOTHING to do with nationality. Players will get to put together their owns teams, with some limitations of course, but nothing nearly as extreme as TRI-KOS. I would rather just one "Nation War", but freedom will not be taken from the good pilots in VO to choose who they wish to fight for and who they wish not to fight for..

Also, wtf are you talking about bojansploosh? I don't disagree with fighting along-side pirates etc., I WANT to fight on the grey team not make a new non-pirate team... I just think the restrictions are pretty much the complete opposite of what greyspace is all about.

Also, this isn't a democratic decision lol. This is Mistena's event, she will be the one to decide.
Mar 19, 2015 Roda Slane link
It is mistena's event, in our grey. She can decide the rules, and we can to decide to ignore the rules.
Mar 19, 2015 bojansplash link
Let's all agree to disagree.

As Neon & Roda pointed out - it's Mistena's event.
She posted the usual traditional NW rules as they applied to all previous NWs.

If we start pussyfooting about rules... there probably won't be a NW at the end because there will always be someone whose 'freedom' will present a problem.

If everyone is allowed to join the grey team, then everyone will and there will be only one huge team fighting nobody in NW.
Mar 19, 2015 neon black link
I'm with Roda then. Fuck the rules, you're in greyspace. I'm fighting for greyspace. I'm not gonna go make myself KOS and conform to rules to fight for a team that represents the lawless sectors of the galaxy.

Also you're totally wrong bojansploosh, lots of people want to fight for their nation.

"When I started playing VO, there was NEVER any talk of grey team qualifications. It all started when the grey team won the 1 billion credit prize."

Oh, this conversation is nothing new. We've had these debates about what constitutes grey (or whether there should be a grey team at all) many times over the years. And every time (regardless of which ruleset the host uses), some moron gets butt-hurt and throws a fit.

Nation War is just a contest. It's really not a big RP event or anything. I mean, you'll have TGFT or PA members on all three of the national teams sometimes, despite their guild allegiances being stronger than their national ones.

HAHA I just realized I probably wont even be able to make it... lol I gotta walk to town tomorrow.

Rin has a good point tho

Look, I don't care about what people say about the past, since it's the past. All I care for is that future Nation Wars can take place and can be fun for the majority of VO; so if you don't want to follow the rules, I would suggest sitting out on this one.

The edited rules for Grey will be the set Grey team rules for all upcoming Nation Wars.

Thank you for your input.

Jun 06, 2007; The free pilot's claim on gray space ...free ourselves from the friendly fire restrictions...
Mar 14, 2009; VO 1.8.62 ... - Friendly Fire has been enabled in all of Odia, Sedina, and Bractus...
Mar 28, 2009; VO 1.8.65 ... - Friendly-Fire restrictions removed from all of gray space....

There was a time when the only way to damage other players of the same nation was to be hated by your own nation. A sacrifice had to be made, for a freedom to be gained. That time ended. Now we all enjoy that freedom by default, without the necessity of the sacrifice. native kos still means something, but not to grey space. All pilots in grey are now free, by default. now the only freedom kos grants is freedom from further penalty in the faction you are kos. it has no further bearing beyond that.

imposing any requirement for a "grey team" is a great disrespect to the pilots of old that suffered the sacrifice, and the pilots of new that now live in a grey of all free pilots. we are all free pilots now.

If you wish to make an "outlaw team" that is native kos, tri kos, or what ever kos, I will leave it to you. but if you imply or state that anyone is not by default a free pilot of grey, i will considered it the highest offense.

further, if you state that being a member of some elite guild(s) is a requirement of being a pilot of grey, then you are worse than the nationalist.

perhaps a grey team no longer serves a purpose in a "nation war". we are all free pilots of grey now.

and take your elitist guild(s) and shove them....

If we ever exclude grey, we need to rebrand it as "Race War" rather than "Nation War" and participants must fly ships which are purchasable by their faction.
