Spellcast dissapears

Nov 10, 2004 Spellcast link
Ok, so on the day that my DSL gets upgraded from basic to 1.5 download, my router/modem also gets a new firmware update. I grab the update, install it, flash the router, and nothing. no internet, no e-mail, nada, zip, zilch.

Turns out there was a problem that had been building in my router for a long time. Updating it triggered it and fried the silly thing. The DSL still links, but the router part died. My modem can talk to the net, but not to the computer. :P

Anyhow, new one is on the way, i stole 10 minutes at the office after work on the dialup to post this, I should be back ingame tomorrow or friday.

Are you sure 'bridging' didn't get reset to off (is it a cisco)? This happens to my router every flash upgrade, and the symptoms are like what you describe.

On the other hand, consumer level routers seem to die all the time. Must be cheap ass componants.

positive, and it is/was a hawking tech router/modem. It was still under warranty and i dont even have to pay shipping (i purchased it from a local store and they are shipping it back/getting the replacement sent), so it's not really a problem, its just aggrivating.

/me twitches uncontrollably from vendetta withdrawal.
