Did you ever see the movie "Crying Game"?

No? The Vendetta version involved two well-known pilots who had some sort of in-game romance going. One of the participants, Verdandi, was merely role-playing being female. The other (male) pilot - and most of the rest of the community - was not aware that this was a role-playing situation. Verdandi 'fessed up eventually, and hilarity ensued. I've deliberately left out the other pilot's name.
