not sure if bug: keyboard lockup
I seem to get the occasional keyboard lockup when dog-fighting. So I use the keyboard mouse config. Specs:
Mac OS 10.2.5
128M RAM
G4 450
ATI Rage 128 Pro (16M)
I will be dog fighting trying to put my fingers into their contortions to fire thrusters and strafe and roll when either right then or soon thereafter my keyboard commands seem to be locked to a certain extent. One time I rolled continuously as if I was always pressing the E button. Last night the keyboard seemed to be locked as I was sliding into an asteroid unable to fully stop. I could hold down the SPACE and slow down but not fully stop. Its like the W key was locked in.
Keyboard is only about 1 mos. old so that's not the problem. It might be a lag issue. Some people are always talking about lag when it happens. Don't know. Last night was the first time it cleared up on its on without me actually logging off and back on again.
Thought you might want to know.

10.2.5?
If you're using a mac version of 10.2.5 that u recieved off the internet (carracho, hotline, whatever) that right there is prolly the problem. It's prolly a build that has some buggy issues.
10.3 is coming out at wwdc...so I'd just wait for that...and just do any upgrades that apple certified upgrades.

ah! My bad, I think I must be losing my mind today. Like when its Tuesday and I think its Wednesday at work, I am getting ahead of myself with OS versions.
I am using 10.2.4... recently downloaded with the system updater from Apple their servers. Thanks for pointing that out SF.

Hmm, there's been other reports of this.
I'm not sure why it does that. THe OS may be at fault, because I respond to every keyboard event the same way on all platforms. It could be that the events change based on how many keys are down.
I'll make a note of it and see what I can do.

I've had the same thing happen on my iBook. It randomly switches to keyboard/joystick, but I don't even have anything plugged in except the AC adapter and the ethernet cable.
Raybondo: it does seem to happen when I have many keys down. Keep in mind that I am newb still anyway so you can imagine what its like when I am dogfighting... I'm pressing Capslock instead of TAB and hitting the E AND the R keys at the same time instead of just E. LOL
So I might have like 6 keys depressed at one time for a second or two while I am fat-fingering a dog-fight. Combine that with a few buttons on my mouse and I am sending inputs galore to the app and OS.
Personally I think it is something with the OS. As I have seen this before in various things... but mostly games.
