Wierd Lighting things
I havent compiled screenshots, my trial just ran out and I dont feel like cheating, but im sure everyone knows of this.
This is on windows, Im pretty sure in directX mode. When you fire energy weapons certain directions, you can see the entire image, as the outer 'clear' square is lit up. It seems to happen only when you fire TOWARDS the 'sun,' but I will collect up when it does and doesnt happen. The same goes for cargo boxes and the little impact sparks.

I have no idea what you just said.
Sounds like a bug with your card's implimentation of programmable pixel & vertex shaders (rglow).
texture compression doesnt matte the "clear" textures like it does the other ones doe it? If so, that might be what hes seeing.
Yeah, texture compression can cause all sorts of bugs. It can turn skyboxes really ugly. Perhaps they should put a "Use at your own risk" label next to it.
Ah, cool. I'll try that out tonight.
To explain better, the shots of the blasters isnt rendered 3d exactly, its an image, a yellow/red blob on a square, that is scaled and placed on the screen. It looks exactly the same from every direction, and the square always faces the player perfectly, and has edges that are always parallel/perp to the screen edges. The corners are supposed to be clear and masked, so it always looks like a sphere. on my current system, when im facing some directions, the corners of the squares are brightly lit, so you can clearly see the squares. This is especially bad in ion storms :P
anyway, ill see if its just a texture compression bug. I hope so. I also hope it doesnt slow things down too much to disable it.
