small bug in "The Gauntlet"

Hello, there seems to be a small bug in the mission "The Gauntlet" which allows you to accomplish the mission much too easily.

You just have to fly very far away from the sector's center, so far away that none of the arriving enemy ships can find you. They will not engage you if you are farer than 4000 meters, but let's assume you move away 15.000 or 20.000 meters - just to get sure.

Now ask one of your friends to do the work for you. This friend may jump into the sector and leave it at any time, hence he may repair his ship as often as he likes.

Your friend will get the weapons points, you will get the combat points and the bonus payment.

This is surely not what the author of the mission intended. Thus, I would like to suggest to change the mission's script slightly:

Every time a ship has been killed by anyone else but the starter of the mission, do not count it for the mission. Replicate a new ship of the same type instead.

In most cases, getting help from other people is considered an acceptable thing - it's multiplayer for a reason. But I agree, doesn't seem appropriate for that particular mission.

Another way to "cheat" on most missions, if you don't want to go so far as to get somebody else to do the fighting for you, is to get a buddy to grab a rep-gun and heal you partway through. The EMS guild will do that for you if they're online.

Though the Gauntlet isn't really that hard once you get the hang of VO combat. I created a newbie alt several months ago so that I could try out the new newbie missions and was disappointed about that. Of course, it's made for real newbies...

i'd ask for a punish the player if they go further than x event but i doubt it will happen and i left them as any can attack cause they are newbie missions so *shrugs*

All i can say is if you do this you will be sent to hell when you die
