Escort bots fly away from Convoy, and kill Lazy pirates at Stations.

Like the title says.

They fly WAAAAY ahead of the convoy, problem one. Problem two is while they sit lazy round a station, they attack anyone they hate for no reason. They are like me but AI! I don't think this is the intended behaviour, and you guys need to get your heads together and sort shit like this out if you are trying to go prime-time.

Nuff said.

CtC bots? Last time i checked, being hated was a good enough reason for NPCs to come kill you. :P

Escort bots, from escort missions.

Oh those, yeah they really should stick with the convoy...

well that does make it easier to kill the voy, just have somebody lead the escorts away.

I have interest in convoy behavious, and have been observing them.

The escorts on each voy allways sprint ahead in departing sector. IF the other cargo ships can reach next sector before they jump away, they regroup. But since fighters are much faster than freighters, in most cases the escorts simply speed away ahead of voy.

This make no sense at all. Escorts that do not escort are useless....

I proposed a practical fix for this a long ago: One extra convoy assembly stage.

Only in departing station, instead of heading directly to jump point, add a 20sec period when convoy forms up on "leader" ship. Make leader ship drift slowly during "convoy formation stage"

This would also fix the "split convoy" bug, that only happens when the fastest ships can jump to 3rd sector before the slowest ships depart from 1st one, i.e., once there are 2 jumps between them, convoy never reunite again. With initial assembly phase the whole convoy would behave properly, as it does now *if* all ships can reach 2nd jump before the fastest jump away to 3rd sector.

The "group up around leader ship" AI function already exists, it is used from 2nd sector on.... if the slowest can catch the fastest before they leave 2nd sector... SO, all required is adding this stage to departing sector, to ensure proper convoy assembly!
