strange accel/decel command results

I have done careful experiments with kb accel/decel commands, and suspect that bugs are present in the VO client. Results are OS dependent and significantly affect use of external control devices, like joysticks, to control the ship. Results cited here are with F/A engaged and are independent of whether plugins are loaded.

Mac 10.6.8:
"w" key [default accel]: Advances throttle setting when depressed, ceases doing so when released. This is normal behavior.
"s" key [default decel]: Reduces throttle setting when depressed, ceases doing so when released. Allows reverse speed. This is normal behavior.
"/+accelerate": Does nothing.
"/accel": Does nothing.
"/+decelerate": Does nothing.
"/decel": Returns "no such command."
"/throttle": Advances throttle setting until "s" key is depressed.

Windows 7 Home Premium:
"w" key: Same as Mac.
"s" key: Same as Mac.
"/+accelerate": Advances throttle setting, ceases doing so only after pressing "w" then "s".
"/accel": Advances throttle setting. Nothing that I have tried reduces it thereafter. Control of ship is regained only by logging and restarting VO client.
"/+decelerate": Reduces throttle setting. Allows reverse speed. Thereafter, if "/+accelerate" is typed, throttle is set to max but speed is clamped at zero. Normal function is restored only after typing "s".
"/decel": Same as Mac.
"/throttle": Advances throttle setting, kb response is normal thereafter.

I believe these responses are dysfunctional and prevent players from using external controllers optimally. Binding control functions to controller buttons and sliders should not require kb intervention to cancel the function. I ask the devs to investigate possible causes and solutions.

Thanks.

/accel -1000 through 1000 are valid values. It expects a value; if none is given, it defaults to 1000. -1000 through 1000 are acceptable values for almost all movement commands (roll, accel, +strafeleft/right/up/down, etc).

Interesting insight there Tarenty.... /me ponders

I did a little experimenting with arguments, not as thorough as the original tests, nothing changed.

This is present on OSX 10.7 as well: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/5/26834
