new target box sometimes way off.
Linux, nvidia (FX 5200, 1.0-6111)
The targeting cursor no longer works either. It just sits directly on the target, no matter the speed/direction.
The box is only centered over the target when looking head-on. Perhaps a perspective projection error?
Looks good, though.
EDIT: FOV is 75, I think.. whatever the default is.

Depends on what you're selecting. But yes, we know. It works great for ships.
It's using the third level of the OBBTree hierarchy used for collision detections to determine the extents of the box, not the actual object mesh itself, so it is not exact.
Your targeting cursor only follows the first weapon slot's weapon config. If you equip a mining gun there, it won't work.

Okay, the targeting makes more sense..
But we're talking way off on the targeting box. As in completely to the side of the target. Lemme go grab a screenshot.
EDIT: Here's some jpg screenshots to show what I mean.
Orun collector is targeted:

Sure looks more like a projection problem than a collision detection tree mesh thing problem. =P
EDIT #2: OH... Could it be that I have 1280x768 for my resolution? Didn't notice it until I opened the images in Gimp and saw the dimensions.. The target box only gets off horizontally, so projection error wouldn't completely explain it.

Ahh.. Okay. Yeah, looks like a projection bug where it doesn't take aspect ratios into account correctly.
Yeah, sorry. Didn't realize it at first. I should have said it in the first post. Looks like a simple fix, though..
Me and my weird monitor resolution.. =) (although, wide-screen vendetta is nice!)
Thanks.

ugh.
Dragging this slightly off, but the current box keeps moving when you rotate your own ship, making the use of a targetbox completely worthless for visual alignment, as the distance between the box and the ship changes :/

Would it be possible to add a line that indicated direction and speed of the target? It would help, slightly, to offset what Spider is talking about.
Maybe even make it toggleable, so that old HUD purists can get rid of it.

Vectors would be nice (linking the box to the autotarget point) maybe an advanced targeting system on weapons as a feature could do that.
As for the 2d box, I'd like the option of keeping the 3d box that gives you better info on their orientation, and shows up better than four little 'L's.
