Serco Border Patrol

Dec 29, 2004 Solra Bizna link
...tells you in the pre-accept dialog box to go to Metana, but once you accept you go to Deneb E-7 instead.
Also, the reward is rather... small. +300/+300/+300 for killing three Centurion MkIIs. Up it to +1000/+1000/+1000 or something so people would actually do it, that way we'd have something to fight on Border Patrol other than the bloody bots!

I made this better. And got rid of all Hive bots from Deneb for the time being.

The reward is gonna be +350/+350/+350 -per kill- once your group kills (number of group members) * 3 pilots. Do the math on an 8-person group...

I figure it's slightly too much, but it gets people to try the border wars out.

I still need to fix the potential powerleveling issues with this.

"I still need to fix the potential powerleveling issues with this."

no you dont.

A1kon, if you can distribute XP to players based on how much damage they did to the serco intruders + a base ammount for each group kill, the powerleveling issue wouldn't be so severe, yet it would leave room for someone to do it.

Example:
Player 1 does 80% (or numeric ammount) of damage to serco
Player 2 drops in and finishes the kill

Player 1 gets 220 (or whatever proportionate ammount) XP added to the grand total when the mission ends
Player 2 gets 30 XP to added to the grand total

Group gets 100XP added to the grand total for the mission

so, say the mission finishes after 1 kill
Player 1 gets 320/320/320/0/0
PLayer 2 gets 130/130/130/0/0

All total XP still would add up to 350XP per kill, but it becomes more based on actual performance by the players.

If this is possible... I'd highly suggest it to even things out a bit.

even if you fix it, us UITS still can't do ANYTHING to match that Exp.....
Jun 16, 2005 LeberMac link
Yeah, that sucks. UIT should be able to join either side, depending on their standing. If their standing is good with BOTH, then they should be able to join EITHER. (But not both at the same time).
Jun 16, 2005 Beolach link
/me disagrees w/ LeberMac, in order to join Serco, a UIT should have good Serco standing, but should also have to have bad Itani standing, and to join Itani, the UIT should have good Itani & bad Serco standing.

But, yes, they should be able to participate in the BP missions.

Uh, OK, even better Beolach.
And you never talk on [IA] Guild chat anymore. :(

Oh, and I think that a1k0n fixed the powerleveling issues by removing the BP missions for the time being. They've been broken for 3 days.
Jun 17, 2005 Beolach link
Yeah, at this point it looks like the BP bots have been turned off. The mission is still available though, and if players on both sides are taking it I think it still works. It's just a pain getting somebody on the other side to take it at the same time.

I talk on guild chat, but usually when I'm on there's nobody else on. And today I was AFK when y'all were trying to get my attention, sorry.

I didn't really do anything... The mission itself apparently can't count, and thinks there are something like 13 serco bots in there when there obviously aren't any.

It's better with PvP anyhow.

Apparently it wasn't working with PvP either for the last couple of days as I heard secondhand, but I will personally test it again tonight to make sure, it'll give me an excuse to try the new IDF Valkyries. Plus I bet there are a few Serco pilots who would like to play as well.

At least we know it's broken. I hear that there are some new inventions called computers which are supposed to be EXCELLENT at counting things. Hehe.
