Every once in a while when I click on the updater it redownloads the whole game which is rather annoying.
Check to make sure that your hard drive isn't full.
It's definitely not full. 10 GB left.
anybody? just happend again today.
Which OS?
Phoenix runs teh Mack oss
OS X 10.3.8
The only things the updater uses to check for a corrupt media.rlb is the media.rlb itself and the vendetta.lfv files. If either one of these gets corrupted, then it would redownload the media.rlb file. I don't understand why it sometimes would do it and not other times.
This morning when I was patching to 1.2.0.2 from 1.2.0.1 it redownloaded the whole game again instead of just patching.
I think ray's suggesting that you might have some corrupt drives? I've never had this problem before...like...ever..
*bump*
heh this happened as i was trying to sneak vo onto a friends computer (he says he hates it and will never play it)
his was a windoze xp, the hdd was almost full.
thats about all i know, dunno if it helps but its out there.

I repaired the permissions on my comp, and that combined with 1.2.0.2 seems to have fixed it, I haven't had to redownload yet...
nevermind, it was fine for a few days, but i had to redownload again this morning
k, that's just really strange. It would only do that if the file actually became corrupt somehow. Next time it does it can you post the entire contents of the text window, or at least whatever it spews on the bottom after the end of the changelog?
it says version is current ; verifying files...
Then the beachball spins for about 10 seconds, then it goes 0/111444KB Downloading updates...

*bump* it's happening every time now.
That's so weird. You have an updated virus and worm checker, right?
*Mac OS X*
Oh very well, you are *less* likely to have a worm or virus.
Anyway, barking up other trees, have a look at this:
"Preference files which get corrupted may cause numerous unexpected quits and misbehaving programs which can make programs act slow. Removing those preference files with a utility like Preferential Treatment will help solve unexpected quits and misbehaving programs which may slow down your computer. Note preference files may also get corrupted, if something has affected either the directory or permissions. "
