unable to connect

Mar 06, 2005 zaldar link
Hey been able to connect to the game before, bought a retail copy of it recently, was using a free trail before, installed it updated it was brougt to the login screen logged in and then was taken to the connecting screen, it then locked up couldn't move the cursor and it never connected. I waited for 15 minutes. I am using MSN dialup (for now) on a windows xp machine. I have McAfee security center with a firewall. Was asked to allow the update program which I did. If you need any more info I can be reached at dacole@wfubmc.edu or just post here. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for buying!

Here's a few things to try:

-completely disable McAfee and try again (remembering to enable it after trying). There may be something funky with McAfee, and sometimes Vendetta hides the popup from the antivirus software. You might also try running in window mode to see what's going on.

-make sure that your XP firewall is completely disabled. We've had reports of users turning it off and then going back to discover that it's back on.

[Edit: D'oh! Yes, ALT-TAB would be much easier. Sorry, It was late...I'm new...older boys told me to do it...]

-Make sure all unnecessary applications are closed.

When it locked up, it was probably the XP firewall asking you whether to unblock Vendetta (which is technically a separate program from the updater).. except it was a window popped up on your desktop while the game was full screen, so you couldn't see it. In that situation, hit alt-tab to get out, or start the game in window mode (alt-enter) and switch back to full screen (alt-enter again) when you're connected.

Where is the file for the game itself? I tried to find it on my harddrive so I could tell Mcafee to allow it but never found it. (it allowed vendetta.exe for the update program) well try your suggestions tonight see if they work. Thanks for the quick reply!

It's C:\Program Files\Vendetta Online\vendetta.rlb on Windows AFAIK. Depends on when you installed, though. Mine's at C:\Program Files\Guild Software\Vendetta\vendetta.rlb.
