Messages Stick Out From Frame in Mission Chat Window in Nav Computer

Mar 13, 2005 DekuDekuplex link
In window mode, when long messages appear in the chat window in the Navigational Computer display with the chat window not maximized, and the chat window is then maximized by pressing the magnifying glass icon in the upper-right corner of the chat window, the ends of the lines stick out the frame border on the right, instead of scrolling back at the border to the left side.

However, if the chat window is maximized using the magnifying glass icon before the long lines are entered, then this problem does not appear.

The chat window needs to be unmaximized before the long lines are entered, then maximized after they are entered, and then the long lines will stick beyond the right frame border of the chat window.

I have asked other players whether they have experienced the same problem, and they replied that they haven't. However, I am always able to reproduce this problem.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the Navigational Computer chat window (by pressing 'n' when undocked, or by docking).
2. Make sure that the chat window at the bottom is not maximized. If it is maximized, then press the magnifying glass icon at the upper-right corner of the window to unmaximize it.
3. Click on, say, the "General" tab.
4. Click on, say, the "Guild" button for Guild Chat mode.
5. Enter a very long line until it can no longer be entered, such as, say, "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog over a cow sitting on a horse that had a bad, lazy, ugly rider who had forgotten to brush his teeth that morning."
6. After pressing the "return" key to enter the text, maximize the chat window by pressing the magnifying glass icon in the upper-right corner.
7. The long line will now stick beyond the right frame border of the maximized chat window.

Ditto. Always meant to say something about this but it was such a trivial thing that I just never got around to it.

FYI: It's not a Mac thing. I'm running Win XP SP 2 at 1153x864, HUD set to 800x600.

Yes, this is a known issue.
The chat windows don't recalculate wordwrapping when they are resized, so the text sometimes goes beyond the window.
