Collector Mining on Moving Asteroid
Ya that happens on the moving roids.
It happens frequently while mining rotating 'roids. Even if you are doing the mining
yourself. It looks funny, but is just a function of the way the mining beam "targets."

Nice. There's really no reason to take that tone here.
It IS a glitch that happens, and it has been reported elsewhere (see below for one example). It's a minor graphical problem that doesn't seriously hamper play. In comparison to some of the other issues that the dev team is tackling, it's a low priority. It will be repaired by the development team without much fanfare as part of one of the updates.
