Guides -> Faction leaders...maybe?

Well, in reading through the topic about guides warping players ( http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/1/10527 ), I had an idea: what if we made the guides the leaders or officials of the opposing factions? This would give them more responsibility to act fairly, and create roleplay opportunities for players, as well as guides.

However, doing this may take away from the guide's fun ingame, because all of the sudden, they have to be responsible about who they shoot down. :P

This would also lend itself to a kind of "Faction MOTD", which could serve as an impromptu notice for people on when cap ships would be spawned, etc.

So the guides would be affiliated with Serco, UIT or Itani?
Like demigods among mortals? Hrm... First knee-jerk reaction: I... don't like it.

I think this would make it HARDER for guides to appear impartial and/or fair.

Gonna have to agree with LeberMac on this one.

Guide powers are generally set up in a way that wouldn't work well with this suggestion. If faction leaders are created it makes more sense for them to have abilities (like faction message of the day) which are created completely from scratch, not based on the guide abilities.

Yeah, Guides (as far as guide powers goes) should be neutral; faction leaders should not be, so they should not be one and the same. That said, I personally would trust any of our Guides who were in a faction leadership position not to abuse their guide powers, so I wouldn't have a problem with Guides also boing faction leaders.
