Bring them back! but only in sector chat or even the mission tab!
why?

it's nice to know when....
Friends die
Enemies Die
Allies Die
Bots Die
Queens Die
Leviathans Die
...even when you aren't the one killing them!

Can I know when Smittens dies so I can taunt him?

I'd love to see some special messages for particularly difficult kills. Learning how to own B8 with popcorn has to count for something, right? ;)

The Hive, Guildmates, yes.

Everything else, no.

Yes please.

No thank you. adding a news news item if a Levi gets killed would be nice, with all the people hitting or in the sector in the last two hours or something listed, that'd be neat.

as for guildmates getting killed, well, it's a fuzzy one, they should be able to spread the word themselves if it's relevant. after all, they have time as they're flying back. =)

YES... please bring them back! Why were they ever taken out?

You could put an option in to turn them off, so if someone doesnt want to see them, they dont have to, but I agree, I have no idea why you took that out :P

Option++ Thumbs up! I want to see who and what is getting popped in sector!

Personally, I'd prefer to see it in another tab called "Activity" or something along those lines, so it doesn't eat up my Chat or Mission tab. *awaits new interface*

I'd like to see a tab dedicated to battle spam, know how much damage each hit is, how many times I'm hit, who killed me, who is killed in sector, who jumps out/in.

Good suggestion [approved]

Yeah, options are nice.

This may be a little superfluous, but it would be funny if the kill message varied depending on the weapon used.

Rail kill = Alamar sniped Phaserlight
Rocket kill = Shape fragged Arolte
Popcorn gun = Nerde Verde toasted Borb
Ram kill = ? gored Lin
/explode kill = Suicidal Lemming went kamikaze on [syn]n00b

and so forth :D

It would be nice if the messages displayed bot kills as well as PKs.

yea please bring back kill messages, sometimes in a fast paced combat its very hard to tell whats going on around you, and by the time a dead groupmate loads into the station and types a warning you're allready double or triple teamed.

Knowing when an ally has died can make a huge difference in combat styles.

I think i'd limit it to group and guildmates who are in the same sector tho.

Phaselight, that's not superfluous, it' would add some fun to an otherwise boring message, though useful in nature.

kernel.panic killed Starbucks Ninja
kernel.panic killed Starbucks Ninja

LOL If I ever see that three times in a row I will give you all of my credits.

(Assuming no fraud on Smit's part, and that the "Kill Messages" are implemented)

I took them out because of some stupid idea. It could be a lot of spam, though. There are several ideas here:
- Broadcast all kill messages to everybody in the sector and show it in the General tab.
- Do the same thing but make a new tab for killing spam.
- Do the same thing but only show guildmates/groupmates/whatever.

Phaserlight, a long time ago we had a pretty large variety of randomly-selected kill messages specific to weapon type. ("<blahblah> is having issues." was one of them).

This is the sort of thing that we'll give you access to in the upcoming interface changes, where you could write a Lua script to implement all of these ideas, plus an options panel for toggling them. For now though I guess I can reenable kill chat spam. (There was some other technical reason that it doesn't broadcast now, but I forget what it was)
