I was wondering if it was possible to have it so that the 3d external view is the defult view for players making the ship centered in the middle

also would it be possible for the camera to track targets in 3person ship viewing so the player can know where their enemies are at all times

finally earning skills are fun but lenghty is it possible that each nation could have an academy that helps players advance more quickly to a certian degree say to level 5 they player would ahve to do side jobs to pay for teh schooling but they would be able to gain skills quicker, it might also be possible for vet players to serve as teachers to earn skills or money maybe even both.

i was also thinking if single player minigames that would server to enhance the games value like target practice where you get combat skill points for shooting highly evasive drones the ligher the drone level the more skill points youll get, or hoop flying with drones shooting at you, this could be structured to teach players how to use evasive tactics during combat.

Maybe Even a version of Ms.PacMan where you shoot targets in a defined course that earn the players money the game would consist of one player shooting objects while 3 other players try to shoot the Pac ship down.(lol crazy i know).

Maybe even space tag or something that would allow the player to generate light and heavy weapons skills lol. thanks for reading

I really like the "tracking enemy" idea, but I think external view is impractical.
How about a button?
Pressing it (and keeping it pressed) would take the view off the main reticule (mouselook style) and fix it on the targeted craft.
Releasing the button snaps the view back on the heading of the ship.

This would serve little or no function for MouseLook people, but the locked-view pilots would certainly like it. I know I would.

As for the "Academy"; Oh yes. Puh-lease!
I'd really like to have missions that cost money to take, but gives extra XP.
I'm thinking:
[ACADEMY MISSION ACCEPTED]
What would you like to learn?
1) Combat pilot 2) Light weapons 3) Heavy weapons 4) Trading 5) Mining

[COMBAT PILOT SELECTED]
Please select a training module.
1) Track a Seeker throgh an astroid field. Keep within 1000 meters of the seeker for 2 minutes. Cost: 6000c - You will gain 3000 Combat Piloting XP
2) Fly in formation with a drone fighter. Keep within 300 meters of the drone for 2 minutes. Cost: 8000c - You will gain 5000 Combat Piloting XP
3) What other training courses do you offer?

Ofcourse, the XP reward and costs would need serious tweaking, theese numbers should be considered placeholders to illustrate my attempt in tuning MasterVore's idea.
I think that this should go on for as long as you want it to, but should cost more and more. Weapons XP should be harmless to gain in this way at first (using drones) but would eventually become the Combat Practice missions we have today, at which point it no longer costs anything becuasue the Nation/Corporation no longer pays for the targets ;-)
Ofcourse, at some point, reguardless of level status, when all the missions are done for that XP tree, you're a graduate Combat Pilot / Miner / Whatever.

So why pay for taking missions?
1) More XP reward than standard missions
2) Maybe some hints along the way? "MissionComputer: Barrel rolling is done by strafing and rolling at the same time, in the same direction" (or whatever)
3) Slick "Combat Piloting Academy Graduate" Badge (ofcourse, one for each XP branch)
4) t3h übar leet feelin!

I'd be happy to assist in drawing up the mission tree!

OK I think this is a good idea, but only up to a point. For example, once you reach level 5 pilot (I think) you can no longer take the beginner combat misssions.

Do the same I think with this. You can learn only so much from training simulations until you MUST prove yourself in real combat.

So perhaps these missions are available in military stations up until level 4.
Then we make the beginner combat missions only available from level 2 to level 5, advanced combat missions from level 6 and up.

And I like the external views. How about just a "left side view", "right side view", "top view", and "rear view"... Different ships would have different fields of view, and...

Then the folks (like me) who want to have a stunt aerobatics team in VO would be able to coordinate maneuvers better..
