Raptor gone to oblivion

how bout just majorly increasing the default max speed to like 90m/s but leaving the thrust as it is? Dunno, might be a cool ship to fly in 'attack runs' rather than dogfighting...just an idea

would also make a good convoy escort would be great for chasing (which fits with the name) since it wouldn't have to use so much of its energy boosting all the time...

The only major problem I have with the Raptor is the hull strength. A desire would be 4 small ports.

I still think they should make it uber, and just available to people that have a perfect payment record of six months or so. And if you have one and then miss a payment, you lose it immediately.

?

but that would be boring...and unfun

But it would be used, which is the entire point this thread revolves around.

isn't this game supposed to be skill-based though?

Giving access to an 'uber ship' to people who have played for a long time (or even, who have enough money lol) just stinks of EVE to me...

Soulless1: That's actually how the Raptor was supposed to be released--to players who had been paying for six months in a row or more, or were on a six-month (or longer) payment plan.

But, luckily, the Devs re-thought that method.

I thought, like many others, that it was a nice way to thank longtime users.

Whereas the mission was (beta, i know) broken (/hard to deal with) and somewhat misleading (aka, you can complete the mission without having access to it anyhow because you dont have admire status or whatever it takes).

Ok, 1.6.2 is out and it has decreased the weight and added more cargo space. How does help or decline the Raptor?
May 27, 2006 jexkerome link
Well, it's still not uber. Oh, and we SO need umlauts on this font; without them, "uber" just doesn't carry the same weight.

Use the HTML character entity ü. That's ü for those of you not in the know. You can't just paste in UTF-8 text to a web form, because guess what? HTML/XHTML uses the ASCII (ISO-8859-1) character set! That's why character entities exist, people.

Even with a whopping 4 cargo units, and a massive 100kg weight reduction, after careful research I have come to the following scientific conclusion:

The raptor still sucks ass.

It does not differ from any other ship in any significant way. For all practical purposes, it's spin torque is the same, it's thrust is the same, its top speed is the same, its turbo drain and turbo speed are the same, and its cruising speed is the same. It's armor, on the other hand, is abominable, with the double-whammy of the ship itself having a massive surface area that is extremely easy to shoot at and hit.

The only thing it does is look good.

At least it's a step in the right direction. I still vote for the forward thrust thing, if any devs are still reading this thread. :-)

Oh and the Raptor still stinks for combat - why?
The big 'ol tongue sticking out of the back. Fix it by doin THIS!

Leber's CHOP SHOP!

Apologies in advance to Luis....

The engines look oversized for the power & (now) size of the ship.

UNLESS we were to add 2s ports (wink wink)

Actually, Leber, it looks pretty cool like that...

But... but... that tail... it detonates SF seekers safely behind you!
