Unbot TD hogs

Actually ther do have infinite ammo.
If you fight a unbot td hog and he is out of flares...you jump out of sector and jump in 1 sec. after and voila he is there again with a full set of flares...still dmged from your shots but with a fresh rack of flares ready to hurl them at you again.

i think the bigest problem players have fighting the AI is just a matter of styal. i finde the new AI generaly easier than the old. but i use a combination of forwards and backwards movment, that makes tricking the botsh into being at MY optimum range really easy.

if they're too far away, back off, let them come to you, then charge in and attack.
if they're too close, give a little feint forward then back up till you're readdy for your next attack.

That doesn't make sense bojan. How could a bot's ammo be dependent on a single player's actions? Unless there is no other players in the sector other than you, then jumping out will reset the ammo for the bots.

Yr right softy. It resets if you are the only player in sector. But since grey is longtime deserted after unbots got nasty...actually in 99% of situations I am the only player in odia b13 whenever i jump in.

Guys, the friggin hog bots don't NEED infinate ammo. They're so damn hard I'm actually more afraid of those damn things than other players. Not even shape can waist me in less than 2 minutes, a friggin hog bot will kill you in 30 seconds unless your unnaturally sharp, on form, and filling with gallons of coffee.

Hmm...
/me isn't unnaturally sharp, on form or filled with gallons of coffee...
just insanely bored when I have to fight an unnie.

Rogue, Starflares do less damage and 400kg is negligible on a hog with AGT.

This is progressing nicely.

OK I have a proposition...since, i hope, momerath42 is responsible for unbots.....how about getting in odia B13 in a vulturis or maud and testing them yourself.
(No cheating by using superbus or dev invulnerability:P)
Usually there should be a nice group of unnies sitting in sector: 3 vultures, 2 cents and 3 TD hogs at least. Enjoy and do tell us about your expirience after they gank you a few times.

bojan's right: they DO have infinite ammo.

But I mean, come ON, they (the TD Hog Unbots with flares) are not THAT good. I can take 'em out easy when it's less than a 2-on-1. The Vults and Cents are MUCH easier than the Deneb BP bots.

5-on-1 was kinda hard, I'll admit. It wasn't the flares that got me, but the 5 streams of AGT fire coming at me from all directions. I poofed quickly. If I had equipped flares I would probably STILL have won out.

My main problem is trying to keep up with them. If you're the only hostile in the sector they'll target you and things usually work out OK.
However, if other convoys meander thru the sector, the pirate unaligned bots IMMEDIATELY break off engagement and go for the transports. You can chase down the vultures, but the TD hogs are FAST and it's hard to catch up to 'em and shoot 'em in the ass.

Of course I WAS using a crappy corvus vult with 2 N2's. I suppose if I used a Valk with N3's I could splatter them easily.

Right Leber:)
And Ayn, I never said i cant do it, i said its hard.
I do it all of the time but i claim that its a big trouble for unexpirienced players.
Fact that grey systems /Sedina-Odia-Bractus/ are empty 99% of the time around the clock since unbots got nasty tells us something.
Unexpirienced players, regular traders and newbies avoid greyspace like hells kitchen.
If the concept of making momerath42 try fighting them himself in a normal ship escaped you i really cant help you with that.

Ayn seems to be right. And the unexperienced players have a nice playing ground in Deneb where older guys can teach them how to deal with the bots without missiles.

What -is- a bit annoying though is the wh gankage where you find yourself dead or severely damaged during the warp out animation.

From an RP standpoint, I find an empty grey space much more entertaining than the previous situation. Now it's populated by pirates, traders, and unbots. Not bored PvP'ers.

It sure is making me utilize the rest of my alts now. I've gone from rarely using any other than Gavan, to using all of them regularly (one for BP/BS on both sides, one for trading, and one for annoying Smittens).

I personally find them to be annoying as hell to fight, but I think the difficulty level is about right. If only it was possible to make them a little less.... psychic? The way they dodge is extremely unrealistic. One moment they know exactly where your shots are going to go before you do, then next they seem to be fumbling around in the cockpit for a lighter.

Also, if they are supposed to be pirates, then I find the fact that they attack anything and everything a bit unrealistic from an RP standpoint as well. Why would a pirate attack an Itani national in a loaded Valk? There is absolutely no reason. Its suicide. I really think that they should be made to only attack trade ships (Atlases, Wraiths, Centaurs, Mauds, Moths).

In fact, the only reason I can see that they would attack a fighter ship would be over percieved turf encroachment. Perhaps it would be interesting if they attacked you if you sat in one spot for too long (as would a pirate WH camping).

We need a Star-Wars-Like-Warping-Animation !

Make the ship fly very very very very fast when warping IN AND OUT ...

But that's another topic =p

BTW: Salut SUN ! qu'est-ce tu d'viens? t qui maintenant? ( jle dirai pas promis =p )

Newbies must fear greyspace, I agree.
Whoever is bold enough to try to get to Odia to buy his first rag at combat 3 in corvus station and his first neuts is in for an adventure, also true.

So......why is greyspace void of players lately, not just newbies but majority of players?
Ill take a wild guess....ummm....afraid of getting killed by unbots?
Jun 01, 2006 Ghost link
Maybe if the unbots didn't appear so often it would be better. The annoying part isn't so much killing them as having 2 more take their place 5 minutes after they die. I mean I know grey is supposed to be dangerous and I agree it should not be easy, but that's a hell of a lot of pirates. It makes grey space seem 10x more populated than any nation space.

P.S. Isn't this nice? We're having an actual debate without name calling!

I love those bots. Maybe it's cause they give grey space a Dungeons of Doom like atmosphere with random death around every corner!

In my experience the vults are what usually blows me up at wormholes/jumps. Hogs are more nasty in regular fighties.
Jun 01, 2006 LeberMac link
I've had times where the unbots completely IGNORE me.

I've also been warp-killed while warping INTO the sector where they are. That's complete BS. Give us back warp-IN invulvnerability. Leave the warp-OUT vulnerability.

Oh and since Ghost mentioned it: P.S. Isn't this nice? We're having an actual debate without name calling!
Ghost you NINNY! Get ingame at a reasonable time sos I can duel you for Gavan's tourney!
