add a progress bar for charged weapons

Jun 28, 2006 Phaserlight link
Another HUD suggestion:

I personally find charged weapons (like the repair gun) frustrating because I don't really have a good idea at all of how... well charged the weapon is before I release the trigger.

Would it be hard to add a progress bar for charged weapons that gradually filled as the weapon went from minimum to maximum charge? It could have the same graphic as the mining progress bar.

Can those damn Charged cannons

(a) Stop charging when it's full and drain my battery
(b) stop automatically fire when my battery is drained?

Other than that, it's cool.

Good idea. I was actually thinking it'd be cool to get rid of the charged cannon. Instead, make all of the energy weapons charge-able. Have a key that cycles through your energy weapons and toggles them to charge mode.

Mm, not so sure about all energy weapons being chargable, but definitely having something for the current equipment would be nice.

All weapons chargeable?
THAT"D ROCK!!!!!!!

It'd be cool to even charge a flares speed up by 5 or 10 but drain like 200 power.

_Energy_ weapons.

(ie. Not rockets.)

How the heck would you charge a rocket? :-\

(And, umm, no, I don't particularly like the idea of everything being chargeable.)

Extremely good idea, PL. Now if there were some use to the charge cannon....

There is! Use a Hornet or Ragnarok and pop ships that try to WH jump Latos -> Azek...

Rails work better for that than charged cannons. Still, it'd be cool to see a "ready to fire" indicator on all weapons, particularly rails and rockets, a couple of lights next to the icon or by the targeting reticle.

Indeed.
