Then turn it off. Inc did say that it could be toggled.

It would be extremely useful. Essentially think of a scrolling RSS feed, from every station, one news story at a time. Especially for traders, they'd be able to pick up on those station fires and price drops while in space, and not only while in-station.

OK, I think I'm most excited about the "Idiot Lights", I revise my earlier statement.

As far as the news ticker goes- I think it would be best if it showed the most recent news periodically, instead of being a fulltime ticker. This, essentially, would show the most recent articles for a while, then cut out for a few minutes, and then repeat.

Or, perhaps an option to switch between "Full time", "Only new", and "Off", with the ability to select which you want when you log in(I'd log in and want it to be full time for a while, then hit a key to have it switch to new only so I can be notified of updates)

Moreover, it would be great if we could specifiy which types of news articles we want to fetch. Traders may not want to see "So-and-So was just roasted by George_Foreman, who collected 1,000,000 credits and a free grill" and combat pilots might not want to know about station fires and whatnot. And then, on top of that, it would be nice to have news articles such as "Bounty of 1,000 credits placed on Guy Montag." or "Major TPG construction project started- mineral convoys expected to start this afternoon. Help wanted!" and the like.

Yeah I do like the new HUD its quite eleagant and since Incarnate wants to allow for custom settings in the HUD:

How about different HUDs for different ships?

The cheaper ships having less info display and a lot less player settings as the HUD has to avoid information overload especially for new players. Not to mean to say these ships are less able, just got to ensure new players aren't going to be put off by complexity.

Go as far perhaps to allow the community to design their own skins - I am sure this has been done before.

Yes, the community will be able to design our own skins. No, individual ships will NOT receive different HUDs. However, there could be a number of HUD elements turned off by default, if it was truely believed there was an information overload. I think the HUD is pretty bare-bones though as-is, so mostly new-ish items would be off (like news ticker, mass, credits, cargo CU, quick cargo icons...).

I don't mind if different ships, or factions, have different HUDs. But we don't have the development resources to do that at present, and the user-configurability isn't there yet to allow players to do that on their own (although it should be possible once we open up lua development).

I'm also locking this thread in favor of the other thread:

So I don't go nuts trying to follow umpteen threads on fundamentally the same subject.
