Yeah, I haven't shot it down, at least. I'm all for it for player-owned capships, but it's not really a priority for smaller vessels.

i think it would be fun to name your ships anything and anytime but it should be an optiong not a requierment such as i have four of the exsact same ship in on station and i got them at the same exsact time i dont want to have to name it each time so name the one selected and be off if i get blown up return to base and try again also i think there should be different types of missions involving capships but thats for another thread

i name my ship The Black Rose

Ok, as I'm new to VO (3 months player), this post is new to me, and I'll add a related suggestion here.

first... +1 to named ships

I'd suggest to name the presets, and not the ships directly. And also, to let us make as many presets as we want. But, at a given station, it will display only the ones fully purchasable there.

The preset list should be... like a drop-down menu. And those 6 buttons, would display the player's top 6 used presets (purchasable there). And not "preset 1" "preset 2"... but the name the player chose to that preset.

Choco's "Ship Loadouts Manager" plugin pretty much does that already, Kab. It's pretty sweet.

+1 to naming individual capships though.

Thanks, Pizza :)
Instaled, pretend to learn how to use it very soon. Doesn't seem to be dificult.

But... would it be possible to the plugin, to search not only the station store, but also the player's inventory at that station?
Then, I can stockpile the addons, or the ships, not available there, just to keep my preferred presets available.

I'm pretty sure it checks the inventory, because I use it to buy dual-gauss corvults at Sedina D-14, using stockpiled gauss mkIII, and it doesn't complain at all. I don't know if the search feature acknowledges stockpiles though, since I never use that part.

Checkout the tutorial on how to use ShipLoadoutsManager here. It's pretty thorough and includes some tips for advanced features that might not otherwise be obvious.

The plugin does equip addons from inventory, but it will always buy them from the station instead if it can (this is the behavior the game uses for the original presets that exist without the plugin installed). I chose to copy this behavior exactly so that there is less of a chance of my plugin breaking due to future VO updates.

Ships, however, cannot be used from inventory. That's something I had planned to add support for in a future release (assuming the ship from inventory already matches the preset in question). I also want to add support for reconfiguring an existing ship to match a given preset. I was in the middle of a major code overhaul for SLM a while back but got sidetracked...
