I like that idea, but the leaving part, you should be able to bring it back and still have it worth something.

I mean what effect would leaving a planet and coming back with the cargo a couple of minutes later have?

Makes no sense darvud...

P.S. I'm back.

I don't know if anyone's ever seen or played the game Star Wars Galaxies, but in that game they have a system very similar to eBay, an auction system, that works really well actually. I think once items in this game become more diverse, the devs should implement this as well.

Each of these transactions should also be taxed, and possibly spread out among the Race's guild leaders.

For any of this to work there has to be some kind of political structure for each nation. I feel like it would be cool to have to vote for nation leaders, and actually have those leaders make real decisions relating to the game, and have a very real impact on the universe.

Hmm. A few thoughts after skimming the thread:
-Right now the devs are working on pushing trade into grespace. Making there be a "fee" to use this cash outside of you nation goes against this.
-Don't make in national currency, make it grey currency. Pretty good exchange rate Creds -> Corvus dubloons (or whatever), dubloons are worth alot in grey but shitty in nationspace, because they would be worth only the materials they are made of.

huh... I never thought of that... I guess that makes more sense because credits are generally accepted anyway no matter what nation you are. Changing that and adding federal bills which can be bargained with and/or invested in doesn't really matter that much, as it's not really all that fun in the first place. Unless you're investing in a certain nation before a battle of some sort, and they profit from the battle, so you in turn profit as well.

Anyway, Spedy:
1) You're right about the fee in greyspace.
2) The "Grey Currency" you speak of would be amazing. First off, the actual value is more than credits, yet if you buy them, with credits, you'll get the same amount. That should provide some incentive into people sticking around in greyspace for business.
