Actually, this particular Jim Kirk has been around the forums for a loong time, as you would see if you would care to look at the datestamps on the previous posts.

High-yield torpedo thingies is definitely a good idea to at least be tested in-game.

Summary of ideas so far (hope I got them all):
-Make them have some armor amount, make them not explode if they are shot down.
-Make there be a 'nuke rack' to hold them on your ship. Would be heavy and very expensive
-Make there be some mission to get an accomplishment in order to buy said nuke-holder thingie.
-Make the nukes themselves very expensive

Fail. I'd much rather be able to cause the guy who launched it at me to nuke himself by shooting it down while it's still close to him.

Also, shooting it down just before it impacts amid your group shouldn't result in everyone instantly being spared all damage.

What Lecter said.

Also, why create an arbitrary 'nuke rack' (which is inaccurate per se, they not being nukes...) when we have the Avalon Torpedo Launcher?

To be fair, if we're getting into "shooting down" Nuclear weapons, then instead of it going nuclear, simply have it detonate it's conventional explosives inside a certain radius. The device will not produce a 1000m yield but would do splash damage out to, 100m?

As for nuclear availability it can and should be universal. Using the CTC for example, being a carrier for Weapons-grade Xithricite, we can surmise that the major nations all have WMD programs that just have not been realized in-game as of yet. Additionally, Xithricite can and would be imported by Military vessels and purified in nation-space to produce these weapons.

As with other weapons though, Sedina may offer a lower license availability to these weapons in the future, while in nation space, high standing (say: POS) and higher licenses would be needed.

What kind of lame nuke goes pew pew?

I do want me some WMDs though. Already built an ulam, but those are just toys.

Nuclear warhead can be very small and safe to store and handle, like the W80 (nuclear warhead)

Causes EMP pulse, disable all electronics nearby, and it is quite small, so small that a mere 1,300 kg Tomahawk_(missile) can carry!

I don't like thread nechromancy... maybe a little offtopic thinking.... but I'd like to see nuclear devices as Avalons or whatever name...
