Radar vs. Scanners

upon hearing about this new FOG, with some explanation of "leftover xith dust"

i got to thinking about ore specific scanners that show up on the radar instead of just point-n-click guessing....

mind you, the fog would throw xith-mining off completely in those specific sectors... (that's half the fun....lol)

if the scanners read out was the radar blips, any roid containing said ore would show up,... (uh, yellow is missle, blue is mine, pink is a can, red is enemy, bright white is group, green is friend... what colours are left???) ...plaid. the dots would have to be plaid, or best offer.

being a sml port, it would just take over where the original scanner left off, and it would be useless for moth-mining, but group mining would still be good.

I always thought it'd be neat if multiple scanners would progressively increase your scanning range. Maybe something like each additional scanner adds half it's traditional range, so the Advanced Mineral Scanner (750) is effectively worth two plain Mineral Scanners (500 a piece). The Hornet would become an invaluble prospecting ship, and even the Ragnorak would find it's place.

if each ore came up with it's own coloured dots, the hornet would be the ultimate prospecting ship.

in a hornet packed with a helio scanner, a xith scanner, a leth scanner, and a denic scanner... there would be lightish red (not pink...hehe Priv. Donut), lt. green, some kind of reddish brown, and lt. blue dots all over the radar.

but these scanner-radars would have to be earned... min 120 prospecting missions prior to purchase. (i have completed 40 of these, so it wouldnt be a benefit for me for a while.)

range isnt really as important as ore content in my eyes. but i do agree with the "must have" factor of the "prosp-net" (prosp/ector hor/net) ...sounded better than "hor-ector"
