try
/explode
in game.

Actually it was the exact situation you described that got the instant /explode taken away in the first place. We already have to put up with Itanis fleeing in valks, no way in hell should they be allowed to blow up just before you claim your kill.
Still, I miss the fun of instant /explodes, if only people didn't abuse it.

Maybe you could only instantly /explode if your engines were at 0 and your battery at 100%? That would eliminate most of the problem.
eh?
/explode leaves the cargo.
/explode leaves the cargo.
Caution: Troll. Do not feed.
I'm not sure, toshiro, maybe a troll, maybe not. True, the deliberately (it seems) bad grammar would indicate a troll, since it seems this guy can communicate more clearly than he is, but we'll see. Besides, this is different from /explode. He's talking about an actual bomb built into the ship that blows it up, and does plenty of splash damage. This is a good suggestion. That's half the point of a self-destruct, to damage your enemies in a final blow (the other being to deprive them of your ship and its cargo).
To avoid the complaint of losing a kill because your prey self-destructed, the kill credit should go to the last player/bot to damage the player who blew himself up. Also, if ships can be disabled in the future, a disabled ship cannot self destruct (but he can if he regains ship control before the enemy is aware).
I like this idea.

It can be abused. Trust me.
Way back in the day I bound /explode to a key and would fly a govbus up guys who just won a duel and attempt to kill them by blowing up against them. It was funny, and quite sad.
And that's fairly tame.

Prof. Chaos:
a) It's been suggested before.
b) I hate AOL talk. There are no excuses for posting like that.
c) Cargo is indestructible, so far. I like the idea, and, call me a conservative, I'd like the devs to stick with it.
d) He began 4 threads in a row, and, from what I can gather, every single one contains a suggestion that has already been posted.
e) What Crip said.

At the same time, this is one of the finer points of combat skill. Before the timer, I had /explode bound to a key and while I surely abused it more than once, I also scored at least a dozen kills with it in close matches where I was OOA. And some of those kills required more timing and pilot skill than any normal one: it's hard timing it right and taking someone out in the splash.
I think /explode should keep the standard splash damage, and lose the motion and timer again; to compromise, the last player to damage the guy who /explodes should get credit for the kill.
And Crip, your example is of being an asshole, not abusing /explode. Anyone can be a fucking dick piece of shit little bitch and shoot/rail/flare/rocket/mine/ram you when you're at low armor. Freebus + /explode isn't some sort of special method for that.

thank you lector for that fine analysis of my post. I suggest you keep up the good work.
You can dispute or be annoyed with the language all you want, CP. The fact that your point has nothing to do with abuse of /explode remains.
Finally something to argue about! You could actually say that his description of events is in fact a method of exploiting /explode; for two reasons:
1. People in general lower their guard when gov buses abound
2. Using /explode in such a manner would effectively turn said gov bus into quite an effective little missile that can think and maneuver better than any missile, with a splash damage that outsplashes any other missile.
And Lecter, for someone who seems to pride himself in his ability to critique other's posts for their grammatical concerns, how come you often resort to immature, nonsensical strings of profanity?

(1) If you "lower your guard" with anyone flying that close to you, gov bus or SCP, you deserve to eat splash. Also, that's an argument for banning weapons, /explode or otherwise, on gov busses. Come on, Gav, you can do better!
(2) Again, that's the point: it's an effective, last ditch weapon. Except that you're incorrect about the "outsplashes" any other missile: the damage from an explosion is relatively minor, as is the splash radius. Hence my point about it being a tactic that a) only works when your opponent is very, very weak and b) requires you to be very, very close to your opponent. And, you only get ONE. Seriously, Gav... you make it sound like the gov bus is the chaos swarm Mk VI.
(3) As I recall, the removal of insta-explode had *only* to do with abuse vis-a-vis prevention of someone getting a kill; not because anyone was worried about sneak attacks from any ship, gov bus or otherwise. As I said above, this should be fixed by making it a kill for the last person to have damaged the kamakazi rather than a 'Kamakazi is having issues' death.
(4) I believe my usage of words in the above post, including the profanity, was grammatically correct; it also made sense in context. Its maturity is, of course, in the eye of the beholder.

Any questions for the esteemed Nominee before we go?
"Dr. Lector, what has caused the recent increase in mass of your "Ego," the organ that regulates one's feelings of self-importance? And on a side note, is your increased use of profanity a result of this... enlargement? The people want to know!"

Dr. Lector:
errrr lol sry if i reposted teh suggestion and sry if i spammed alittle much. i DID however look at the "READ ME FIRST BEFORE POSTING A SUGGESTION" locked thread, scimmed thru for bomb or self destruct, didnt see it, i was like ok im gewd to go 'n stuph. as for the kamikaze govbuses, i said a self destruct ITEM so it wuldnt be a light one that u culd put on sumthing like that. also i said (maybe less or more dmg) so it doesnt have to be a buttload of aoe dmg. also it culd cost alot, possibly require some reputation. also u wuld lose it if u use it lol. if u didnt notice i said it wuld go "bleep bleep booooop" instead of "BOOOOOOOMMMMM" so the enemy culd see sumthing flashing, an animation er sumthing and they culd be like "LOL RUN AWAY GUYS, HE's EMO!" so it wuld be rather hard to take the dude w/ u. unless he was like "DURDUDUDUDUURRRRRdumdinosaur!!!!11!11!1." in which case, however, the weapon might deserve a high dmg. and also it culd be used only if at 100% battery?
so by these terms, i have been careful to make sure this wep wuld be neither overpowered or underpower (also teh thingy about last dmg gets teh kill is pretteh kewl, but hey! in some ways.... all ideas + posts r kewl :D lol)
thx for teh posts and i thot it was optional to not make the internet english class! iget enough of that at school and im saving my language tolerance juice!..... thats in my...... language tolerance organ!!!!
