Um, I tried to type like SharkTank, and I have a new appreciation of the skill involved in speaking that particular dialect of internet gibberish. I literally can't do it! This is at least a good suggestion, though.

The only exploits of /explode are instant travel across the universe to your home station, and depriving someone of the credit for the kill. The answer to the first is higher ship/repair costs, which are in the process of implementation (more with new economy I think), so that it instant travel is expensive. The answer to the second, as I said (echoed by Lecter, wow, I'm in total agreement with Lecter for once) is for whatever player/bot that hit the player last to get credit for the kill.

Read Lecter's post again, it's right on. Remember Kamikazes in WWII? This is an effective tactic. Like Sharky said, it should be an optional addon. It should take cargo space (but not a port), and the explosion damage/splash damage should be directly proportional to the size/weight of the device, but with diminishing returns. For example (meaningless numbers just to give idea): 2cu/1500kg=2000 damage; 3cu/2100kg=2500 damage; 4cu/2700kg=2900 damage; 5cu/3300kg=3200 damage, etc.

I actually agree with most of that. Blame the little devil's advocate in me. Personally the only time I ever really felt irked by the whole /explode thing was when me and three or four others were chasing a certain someone around Sedina/Odia trying to get their bounty, only to have the dipsh*t f*cking, a*s munching, piece of festering goat t*sticle hit /explode right when he was at 5% (see Lecter, all you need is some commas). Take a wild guess who it was :)

Anyway, I would be fine with it if such a thing were implemented (last to hit gets the kill/bounty). But if so, it might be the perfect time to bring in assists as well (if you damage someone who gets popped, you get an assist, sorta like hockey). Anyway, not an attempt to derail this off topic, just goin' with the flow.

there's another possible idea, a large port fuse (if u wanna do teh beep beep booom thingamajig) (and last to dmg gets the kill/bounty) but won't do any extra dmg or extra aoe unless special bomb fuel thingies in ur inventory (and u can have the bomb fuel thingies w/ dif classes alone without fuse to do more splash dmg when u blow up... involuntary death)
