Guild chat...thing!

Future feature request for guild chat: Ability of leader and designated people to mute people in guild chat only. Since it's sort of annoying having the kickban being your only course of action in case a member is acting up. A nice guild-chat squelch feature would be just dandy.

In case the above is confusingly short, let's put in an example here. Member A is a long time member and usually happy and all sorts of good stuff. Well, one day Mr. A decides to go ballistic on the guild with verbal abuse and whatnot. The Leader/Officers-on-call/etc don't want Member A's vulgarity to spoil the fun of Members B through Omega. As it is right now, they can only kick Member A, a long time loyal, and usually good member. I'd like a less harsh method of punishment, namely, that of being able to prevent Member A from talking over guild chat.

Just a manual squelch is fine, though an optional timeout parameter would be cool.

Does /ignore not work in guild chat? Crap.

You could also either add to that suggestion or replace it with guild suspensions. Said member is effectively kicked out for a specified number of days, but upon return gains back any positions he or she held.

/guild suspend "Shape" 2 (days)

Good idea though....

anybody worth of suspension actually deserves expulsion.

i dont think anyone wants to deal with frustrated members.

if you guild needs such a feature, you need to change guild.

Which feature? You weren't quite clear Mouser.

The one I originally suggested was more for leaders who don't exactly have full control over their recruitment(This is hinging on the guild system being reworked to allow guild leaders specify who can invite/expel/etc) process. Dedicated guild leaders can't exactly "change guilds" at the drop of a hat.

Right now, and as I've seen in many many other games, the only recourse a leader has for a disbehaving member is to boot them. Depending on the status of the member within the guild, this may cause rioting, abuse of guild leader, etc. A less drastic method of punishment("You there! Still your tongue before I temporarily pin it to the wall!") would help quell troublemakers that may arise without causing as much dissent(All depending on who is in the guild, of course). Please note that the squelch feature would only be given to members by the leader(Or, if tossed into the current system, given to the leader and two lieutenants) and anyone who is squelched could only not talk in guild chat. Any other chat is still free and clear unless they draw the ire of a Guide.

Yeah I think he was referring to my add-on.

In response, I would say that that is definitely a possibility (wrong guild), but I would also say that you are not taking into consideration all possibilities. Many real world organizations have suspension policies, simply because said suspended person may have qualities that the head of a guild may realize and may desire (a solid pk'er for a trading guild in desperate need of protection for instance). While right now it certainly is more how you put it, once the game opens and grows, things are going to change.

Sorry Steve if I'm running things away from your idea. I do like it, and would hope that your's would be the first implemented (definitely the less complicated I would think).

Sheesh, this is simple.
1. Allow people to be kicked from groups by the group leader.
2. Allow people to be muted in the GROUP only by the group leader.
3. Allow more than 8 people in a group.

Those would also be awesome.
